Everything was packed up and Jaha was flanked by a guard, who sat next to him in the wagon. He was gagged and tied up, so he wouldn't cause any problems. Lexa, Gustus, Clarke and Kane lead the group, the others trailed behind. After a few minutes they all reached the tree line again and Kane mumbled, "I can't believe we were so close." Lexa turned to Clarke, "Are you sure they won't shoot at us this time?"

"I sure hope so. But it's not dark this time and Kane and I are prominent enough to not take us for Grounders. Or at least Kane is," Clarke stated far less confident than anybody liked.

But then Kane just took a step forward, "I am confident that they won't shoot at me. If you stay a step behind, you will be safe." And with that the whole group stepped out of the tree line into the sight of the guards of Camp Jaha.

A shot rang through the air. But it didn't come from the guards at the gate. Someone ran up behind them and Anya, Indra and Lexa were tackled to the ground. Lexa felt a sharp pain when she hit the ground. A sharp stone on the ground pierced her clothes and skin where to armour plates connected. She felt blood oozing from the cut. It felt deep, but it wouldn't stop Lexa from fighting against the idiot that attacked her. Lexa slammed up her knee and use the second of shock to roll over and position herself on top of the attacker.

When Kane realised what happened, it was already too late. Three man from the guard tackled down the commander and her two companions while three other guards held the commander's guards at gunpoint. He knew that, if he didn't do something now, people would die.

Clarke stood there in stunned silence while Bellamy held Octavia back from joining the fight.

Before Heda's guards could react, Lexa had overpowered her attacker and shouted, "Set raun! (Wait!)"
Her guards eyed her wearily , but they didn't move. That moment Kane used to shout, "Stand down! All of you, put the guns down! That's an order!" He especially stressed the last sentence.

Surprised the arkadian guards turned to Kane. "Sir? They are dangerous!" one of them said.

"I am the chancellor. You do as I say," Kane said coldly. In this moment the man that killed 300 people on the Ark was back. His voice was emotionless and did not leave room for any discussions. He glared at the guard. Not a second later, the guns were holstered, but that was the moment Indra had waited for. She unsheathed her dagger and swung to kill the guard closest to her, when a voice stopped her, "Em pleni! Yu na nou drag klin ai reinseden. (Enough! You will not disrespect my orders.)"
"Ba Heda, emo jomp oson op! (But, Heda, they attacked us.)" Indra protested.

"The Skaikru are goufas (children) and branwadas. But we are here to discuss a treaty. Don't ruin it before the discussion have started," Lexa made her point clear. Then she turned around. For her the discussion was over. "Thank you, Kane from the Skai People, for ordering your man to stand down. It was a wise decision," she added with a nod to Kane. He just gave a sharp nod back and then ordered the guards to announce their arrival and make clear that no one is to shoot or he himself will oversee their punishments.

With that the guards left and the group of grounders and Skaikru waited.

"You know, Heda," Kane began to speak, "we both want the same. Peace. And I hope to achieve that one day, when people realise that shooting before asking questions is not the right way. It took me a long time to realise an important thing as a leader. We always try to justify our actions, say it's the best for our people, but sometimes we forget what being a leader really means. We can't rule over their heads. As a leader you serve your people and try to do the best for all of them, not just the majority of them. It took me the mass murder of 300 people to realise what I've done my whole life. I killed so many people. Most of them I remember, but some I forgot over time. Down here I hope to do better. But I can't do that alone."

Lexa looked at Kane. She wondered how he could show his vulnerable side so carelessly. Because he seemed to be a good leader, but he wasn't ruthless like the commander had to be. She had to meditate and think about this. Talk to the other commanders about this. But for now she just said, "I hope we can accomplish better things together."
