Warnings: none

Here, have some Yelena fluff because I have writers block. I apologize if this isn't the best thing I've ever written, but I wanted to publish something.

Enjoy :)

Rain pounded softly against the house, giving the whole night a kind of comforting aesthetic, if that's the right word for it. Night had fallen early, thanks to the thick cloud cover that was the nighttime weather. The window curtains had been drawn, shielding the outside autumn darkness from the inside lights.

Yelena stood over a hot stove, swaying slightly to the soft music playing while stirring the pot of food she'd been working on. It was the kind of scene people only see in movies, the fluffy bits of married life that make the audience feel all warm inside. She was honestly just glad she could spend some time together with her wife.

Y/n had pulled a morning shift at the restaurant, so Yelena had decided to make a nice dinner since they rarely had time to. With Yelena's schedule in crime fighting and y/n's work schedule at the restaurant, family dinners were a gracious break from their hectic life.

Warm hands wrapped around Yelena's torso, getting the blonde to crack into a smile as she leaned into the touch.

"Dinner smells amazing." y/n whispered into Yelena's ear, shivers creeping through the blonde's spine.

"Thanks baby. It's almost ready." Yelena replied, adding the last few bits of seasonings before holding a spoonful up for y/n to taste.

A sudden clap of thunder boomed outside, making the two girls in the kitchen jump. It wasn't that they were afraid of the thunder, it just caught them by surprise. Y/n had always liked thunderstorms, finding some sort of peace in the rain. Yelena on the other hand, just tolerated them, although finding it cute when y/n would get excited when the rain would start up.

However, there was one person that they knew was terrified of the thunder.

"Should I go, or you?" y/n asked, unwrapping herself from Yelena.

"Can I trust you not to burn down the kitchen?" Yelena smirked, recalling the several times where y/n had almost set the kitchen on fire when cooking.

"Probably not." y/n smirked, giving Yelena a quick kiss on the cheek before she turned to move through the house.

Walking through the hallways, y/n smiled internally, seeing all the family photos of Yelena and herself, some of the Avengers, and Yelena's family like Melina and Alexi. She could remember just about every moment these photos were taken, and they never failed to remind her about the family she had found herself a part of.

More thunder crackled outside, this time slightly shaking the house, which even startled y/n slightly. She could hear the plates in the kitchen cabinet rattle all the way down the hallway.

"Honey? You alright?" y/n questioned, slowly pushing one of the bedroom doors open and sticking her head inside. The bedroom was on the cusp of being considered a mess, but the mess was really just a few toys scattered about.

A tiny body was curled up in the bed, the covers all scrunched up in a ball as a head emerged from the mass of pillows.

"Mom?" the little girl called out, her hair all messed up from being underneath the bedding.

"Hi baby." y/n smiled softly, coming fully into the bedroom and sitting down on the side bed. "How's it going in here?"

"It's scary, mom." she whimpered, immediately crawling into y/n's lap, who just protectively wrapped her arms around her daughter in response.
