The first thing Colby notices is the silence.

It's violent and so unfamiliar it makes his skin crawl. He typically notices things most others dont about his best friend. Like how Sam hasn't been himself lately.

There's usually an ora of radiating light coming from within sam, drawling everyone closer to just get a taste of what pure happiness feels like.

It washes over anyone who comes close to the boy. Wrapping them in and whispering a sulum ruling that, yes, indeed you have nothing to worry about if you are with me. Sam would make it so.

With Sam there was no worrying. Was no overthinking or wanting to retreat back into your room because of the tiredness of the day.

Sam was much like the sun. He gave energy to anyone who would accept it. He gave hope of better days ahead each time he smiled. His voice was like silk, always soft and well spoken, but hinted with so much fondness and radiance it was hard to not want him to ever stop.

Which is why when days went on and he did stop. It made Colby's skin itch.

He remembers watching the solum look on his friends face, wondering why. Why him? Why did the world have to take something so breathtakingly beautiful and ruin it.

Sam was every part of himself he wished he could be, and now he was gone. The same lifting ora around sam turned heavy and tainted with anguish. The shock pushed Colby away, it all too familiar to the way he feels deep inside.

He couldn't bare the thought that Sam could ever feel so low. That one day his smiles would only be seen in his memories as he tried to get sam to do anything but cry.

The world was cruel, but the darkness was even curler.

There was no explanation for its wakening. No signs or warning calls, it all came silently and without remorse. Sucking the light from Sam's body as if Sams happiness wasn't the only thing keeping him alive.

It forced Sam to pull away, reced far deep into his mind we're even Colby had a hard time digging him out.

Colby never once thought of a world without Sam in it. He always imagined sam by his side forever. Like they promised.

Who would of knew Sam of all people would be the one breaking such a pure thing.

A promise of entirety, broken.

When Colby found him, the scream he let out was raw. If sounds could kill...everyone in the vicinity would parish.

The pain, the agony, the hurt.

It's raw and painful, it's thousands of agonies molded into one it's-

It's the sound of someone who's lost everything.

Colby sobbs uncontrollably, tears dripping down his cheeks, catching the afternoon light from the open windows.

He reaches for anything he can touch, cradling his friend in his arms as he screams. His body shaking with each cry. He pulls Sam closer to him, frail as he is, and whispers apologizes for the way the darkness took hold of him.

The wind whistles in his ears as he sobs, the open window casting a heavenly light upon Sams cold face.

Colby screamed a horse plead, begging anything in the universe to help. To at least if anything let him go with him.

The sky stayed silent as his cry's grew. The earth moving just as it was before.

Only one where the sun was snuffed out by the darkness, leaving everyone in its wake completely, utterly, and undoubtedly, broken.
