Catching a cold is a pain in the ass. What's even worse is that I have a cold on the day that Rebekah, Kol and I planned on going bar hopping together. Valentine's Day. None of us have a valentine so we figured that we might as well make the best of it. But since I'm sick and bedridden, they are going to go on without me tonight.

They've given me the option to have a taste of their vampire blood to cure myself on the spot, but I refused. I refused because I didn't want to cheat and the only way I'd consider tasting a drop of it is if I'm on my death bed.

I decided to make myself comfortable in my bed, wrapping myself up in a thick blanket as I scroll through my phone.

It's around 5 o'clock and just as I'm about to doze off to a nap, a doorbell rings from my front door. My brow furrows curiously, having no clue who could be disrupting me.

I grunt, standing up with my blanket wrapped around me like a burrito, proceeding to answer my door. Luckily I live in a one story house because walking downstairs would be a hassle right now.

There's never a time that I don't check through my peephole first. Peeking through, I'm a bit shocked seeing Kol on the other side. He's holding a plastic bag filled with items I cannot make of because the plastic bag is thickly aligned. I open the door, letting out an uninvited cough to my forearm.

"Hello darling." Kol smiles and I return one back.

"Hi Kol. What are you doing here? Not that I mind, but-"

He cuts me off, lifting the plastic bag at chest level as an offering. "I brought goodies." He straightens his arm, shrugging. "Since you're too stubborn to use my blood to cure you of this bloody cold, I have medicine, juice and everything else you could need."

"Wow that's so kind of you, but you didn't have to. Really." I step aside as a gesture to welcome him in.

"Don't be silly." Kol strides past me towards my kitchen and I shut the door.

Following his direction, I find him unloading the items he's bought for me.

I've had feelings for Kol for quite some time now, but this kind gesture of his has suddenly caused my feelings to grow. I also noticed he went above and beyond, buying triple of each item.

"That's a lot. Like a lot a lot." My eyes widen.

"Seeing as you as you are my fragile human, I insist." He walks over to me, lightly shoving at the small of my back. "Now go have a seat. I'll fix you soup." He whispers and I do as I'm told to sit on my couch.

After I've finished my soup, Kol served me medicine. It was the liquid kind that always makes me want to gag. Orange juice was needed as a chaser. This is by far worst than a shot of liquor to me.

Minutes later, Kol and I are watching a movie of his choosing. I'm seated on the middle cushion and he's on my right. I stretch my arms up, yawning as I do so. The medicine must be kicking in.

My eyes blink lazily and I can see from the corner that he's looking at me with a grin. I turn to face him. "What?" I ask, yawning once more.

"Someone's tired." Kol teases. He twists to grasp one of the extra pillows placed on his back and sets it on his lap, patting his hand on it. "Lay your head and sleep."

I did not dare to question him because why wouldn't I want to be close to him. So I lay my head down on his lap and my heart flutters from this somewhat intimate moment. Once I shut my eyes, all I want to do is fall into a deep sleep because of the medicine's doing. As I'm drifting off, I feel Kol's left arm being placed on my upper arm and his right arm starts to caress the back of my head. Mmmm this feels nice. I let out a soft moan from the comfort of his touch then drift off into a deep sleep.

"Sleep, darling." His voice echoes through the back of my head.

Waking up, I flinch, feeling unaware of my surroundings until I blink a few times to finally process where I am and who is with me.

The sun is already set and Kol's lap wasn't beneath my head when I awake. I frown, thinking he must've left since I've been in a long slumber. My cell phone is on the coffee table, so I sit up, leaning forward to grab my phone, checking the time and it's nearly 10pm. "Damn." I mutter.

A faint noise sounds in my hallway, then I hear my bathroom door open. Footsteps approach and I'm slightly frightened, my body tenses because I'm unsure if it's Kol or not. After all, I was asleep for hours.

Finally, I see that it's Kol and I exhale from relief while he's caught by surprise to see me awake. "You slept for so long that I started to grow lonely." He says, pouting playfully.

"I'm surprised you're even still here. And it's getting late. Shouldn't you be meeting with Rebekah?"

"Change of plans. I'm staying put with you." Kol starts walking towards me, seating himself beside me on the same spot on the couch.

"What? No. It's Valentine's Day. Go have fun and don't leave your sister hanging." I wouldn't dare allow Kol to miss out on a fun night out.

"My dearest Bekah has Matt to keep her company now. Besides, I prefer to spend Valentine's Day with you." He grasps my right hand, placing a gentle kiss on my knuckles.

"Really?" My cheeks flame up. What could he possibly mean? Does he pity me because I'm sick?

"Well not just Valentine's Day. If I'm going to be honest. I prefer it be everyday." He says.

"Why?" Everyday? I may or may not have an idea as to where he's going with this and right now, all I can produce are one worded, questioning responses. If he's feeling what I think he's feeling, then he needs to spit it out already.

"I'm aware the timing is not up to par because of your status." He referring to my god awful cold. "But, I refuse to wait another day to tell you that I fancy you."

"You?" I inhale sharply. Wow, so he does feel the same? Now I'm still at a loss for words. I'm in utter disbelief.

"That plan with going to the bars with Rebekah wasn't a real plan. I was going to take you out alone just outside of town and confess my feelings there. But given the circumstances. Here it is."

That slick, handsome bastard. I'm still speechless and Kol's face saddens. "Are you going to say something?" He asks worryingly.

I blink twice. "Can you slap me right now to make sure I'm not dreaming?"

"Are you mad?" He snorts, looking amused and I shrug. Then, he leans over and locks his lips with mine. I show him what I'm made of, placing my hands around his neck to bring him closer to me.

I reel back, still keeping my hands wrapped around his neck. "Wait, I have a cold."

"Did you forget? I'm a vampire. We don't get sick." Kol shakes his head, smirking.

"Oh yeah. Duh." I pull on him so that his lips meet mine again.
