(The first half is placed in the beginning of The first avenger. For context this would be around when Bucky had told Steve he had been drafted. The second half is After Steve gets recruited by Dr.Erskine.)

Due to growing up watching Steve and Bucky get into fights and having to clean them up I found myself learning how to become a nurse. I had felt drawn to helping out with the war the same way Bucky and Steve were.

With Steve not being able to enlist in the war I decided I would stay back with him if and when Bucky had to go.

"Honey!" I hear Bucky yell from the next room. I walk out and see him standing by the table.

"I think we should talk" he says.

Based off of the look on his face I know it's not good.

"You have to go...don't you?"

He nods. He doesn't say anything, I assume because it's bittersweet and he doesn't know what to say. We knew this was coming and he's so ready to fight, but still leaving is the hard part. Telling Steve is the worst.

"I leave tomorrow" i take a deep breath and walk up to him.
"We can talk when you get back"
I say. "Get back?" I give him a slight smile. "Go tell him, you know where to find him"
He smiles at me, gives me a kiss before walking out the door to tell Steve.

It really is so bittersweet. I know how much he wants to fight for our country but...I wish I was out there helping him if he's hurt.

Steve somehow convinced a Doctor to recruit him. I don't know how he managed that. He was able to get them to allow him to bring me around to help stitch up some of the men that might get hurt while training.

Bucky would be glad to hear we're staying together.

Steve's been struggling with training. He's always the last to get back to camp after a run, I have to constantly clean his wounds after he falls 4 feet while climbing, or gets cut up by barbed wire.

He's met a girl though. Peggy Carter. She's beautiful and very tough. She's become a close friend of mine since being here.

Steve's been speaking to me about an experimental project he and Dr.Erskine are working on. I don't have the clearance to know all of the details right now but he's confident about it so I trust him.

I miss Bucky. I've never been this far away from him for this long. I'm trying to keep it together because I know he wouldn't want me sad but the truth is...I'm terrified.

I've grown up with him always out fighting but not like this, not this real.

Not this far.
