~ Vivian
Bucky, Steve, Peggy, and the 107th are making a plan around a table in front of where I'm sitting. If I'm being completely honest I'm not listening a single bit.I should've known that hour of peace I had with Bucky was too good to be true.
I should've known he and Steve would be eager to go be hero's.
I must have a nasty look on my face because Dum Dum Dugan, one of the 107th, approach's me and says "you don't look too happy about this" i smile a little not wanting to.
"What gave me away" he laughs. "Maybe it's the glare you've given each and every one of us since you came in here and plopped into that chair"
"I don't get it, he just came back to me and he wants to run off again, I mean he barely got out of it alive that first time and he wouldn't have if Steve hadn't gone, I mean seriously this is why men die younger than woman, what drives a man to run off so-" i stop.
"I apologize, this isn't your burden to bare" he smiles. "It's okay, he's lucky to have a gal that cares so much"
"Yeah too much if you ask me" Bucky cuts in. I scoff "well excuse me if" he kisses me before I can continue yelling at him.
"I've missed that attitude" he says before i even open my eyes. "I don't find you funny" i say clearly ticked off. "I do" Dum Dum Dugan says before walking up by Steve to continue planning.
"I don't want you to leave. I have a bad feeling about this." I say softly. "I know. I'm not exactly excited about it but you and I both know this is what I signed up for"
"No no this is not what you signed up for!" I sit up and look at him seriously."You, Steve, and half a dozen men going up against who knows how many people on your own!" He doesn't say anything so I continue.
"Bucky, I know you want to fight but you came back once and that was lucky, what if you don't come back this time."
He looks into my eyes and sets his hands on each of my cheeks softly and says. "I will always come back to you, I promise" I stare at him wanting nothing more to believe him.
"You can't promise that" I remove his hands from my cheeks and walk outside the tent towards mine to freshen up and calm down.
I'm in there for probably about 30 minutes when I hear someone outside my tent. "Vivian may i come in" i hear Peggy say.
"Yes of course" i open up the flap and let her step in before closing it.
"I couldn't help but notice you're not happy about this" she starts.
"I'm just...scared" I say."Me too but...we have to trust them and trust that they'll be alright." She grabs my hand and continues talking.
"You know Steve told me you always looked after them growing up, keeping them out of trouble...I know you must feel out of control when they're out there but like you told the colonel...They both are stronger then you give them credit for" i nod not really knowing what to say. I know she's right but that doesn't give me any peace.
All I know for certain is I have one night with Bucky before they leave.
"I should spend some time with Bucky before they head out, preferably some where I'm not glaring at him" she laughs and i give her a hug before leaving the tent and walking towards where I see Bucky, Steve, and a few other soldiers standing.
I walk to Bucky's side and link arms with him. "How does bread and jam sound" i say. Steve perks up "at this time of day" he says.
"Yes" Bucky and i say in sink. We look at each other and smile.
"Come on I have some i left in my tent from earlier" Bucky follows me.
