Chapter 56

Pietro decided that he wanted to ask me to dance, which I was happy to do because it had been a long time since we both hung out with one another. " So have you been my pretty princess?" he said in a mocking tone

"Awe you think that I'm pretty, Pietro, that's so nice of you to think and say to me," I say with an exaggerated tone.

"I- Nevermind. So what's new with you?" he asked me. That's when my mood changed because I didn't know if this was a good time to tell him anything.

"Well I can tell you and it would be a mood killer, trust me,"

" I don't care if I do or not because I want to know what's going on in my friend's life and why she shut me out".

"Um... Almost two weeks ago Alex died and when I was in my coma this version of Alex came to visit me. He told me that if I'm ready to move on, I should do it because he wants me to be happy and after that, he told me that I was pregnant. And that's the short version."

I saw the look on Pietro's face as I told him the short version and he slowly stopped dancing and we were just standing still while everyone was moving around us. I quickly grab my phone and take a picture of him before putting my phone away.

"Did you? Are you? Wait. Are you sure? How? I-"

"Breath Pietro let the words come to your brain," I try to tell him

"How do you feel?"

" I feel that I will be okay but at times I feel emotionally overwhelmed".

"Who knows?"

" Logan, Steve, Wanda, and you. I also told them in that order so you aren't the last to know like the last time I had new," I tell him.

We both hug each other and start to dance once again before going our separate ways. I decided that I wanted to drink something refreshing so I asked the bartender if they could give me some water, limes, and sugar for me to make my lemonade and when I did they looked at me weirdly until I told them I couldn't drink and looked at my stomach when they finally understood.

The bartender gave me all the items so I finished making it and took a ship. I looked around to see what the others were doing. Pietro and Clint were arguing about something, Tony, Sam, and Rhodey were talking, and Thor, Wanda, and Vision were all together by the couches talking as well. I kept looking around because when I want to be I can be a bit nosy and since I'm bored then I'm going to be nosy.

In the corner I see Bucky and Dot talking and when Bucky and I might make eye contact he gives me an apologetic look probably from what happened earlier but I just look away. As I look away I make eye contact with Steve who looks extremely pissed off and is marching in my direction.

" What the hell are you thinking?"

"What are you talking about?"

"Don't act dumb'" He tells me angrier while I don't know why.

That's when I look down at my drink and it hits me, he thinks that I'm drinking an alcoholic drink, " Steve it's not what you think".

" Are you sure I turned around to see you at the bar and the next thing I know you have a drink in your hands? Want to explain it?"

"Okay it looks bad but it's not because I just was super thirsty and I didn't want water so I asked the bartender if they can give me a cup of water, some limes, and sugar so I could make lemonade," from the looks of it he doesn't believe me.

"If you don't believe me then they smell my breath and drink to make sure it doesn't smell like alcohol," and he does and I can tell that he prepares himself to smell alcohol but he doesn't.

"I'm sorry it's that I wanted to make sure you weren't doing anything stupid to put your or your baby at risk because I know the type of person you are and you would regret it".

"Thank you for that but you also know the type of person that I am because I am responsible and I'm not that stupid to not have any common sense about anything".

"How about I make it up to you by allowing you a dance?"

I think about it a bit but a little too long for Steve, because he starts to give me his best puppy eye look," Okay, I will let you have a dance but let me finish my drink"

Once I finished my drink I put it on the counter and gave the bartender a tip before heading to the dance floor with Steve where the both of us started to dance with each other. We both didn't stop dancing when the first song stopped and we just kept dancing with each other song after song not caring what the song was.

"After all this time you asked me how I was, but I never asked you so what's new with you Steve?"

It took him some time but he finally responded, "I have been okay since most of the days nowadays are mostly just working and not going out much. Since Bucky is spending a lot of his time on mission/training or with Dot while Sam is bouncing his time with New York and Louisiana, I don't have much to do."

"And what about Michelle because from the looks of it she's still very into you?"

"That boat sailed a long time ago."

"How long ago? If you don't mind me asking".

" Like 3 years after you left, so 2 years ago."

After that, the both of us got silent and kept dancing with each other not minding the silence between the two of us. The next song that came on was slow so Steve and I got closer, I felt him nod but I just didn't mind it because I thought he had just adjusted what he was doing.

The next thing I knew that was going on was the song that Alex and I used for our first song started to play. I stop and start to look around for what? I don't know until I look where the DJ is and see Michelle talking to the Dj and with a big smirk on her face but she wasn't looking at me but at Steve.

I look at Steve and ask him, " Did you do this?"

"What are you talking about?"

"Did you tell your little mega fan about Alex and what this song means to me?"

"What no, I didn't do anything I promised. I didn't know why she would do that," After he said that everything started to blur and I was having trouble breathing when Steve noticed he tried to grab me but I just giggled out of his hold.

Flashes of memories that Alex and I had from when we first met to when reunited a couple of months ago go through my mind and hurt me." I try to leave but it's a bit hard once I was able to leave the party I head to the elevator where F.R.I.D.A.Y, "Miss.Y/l, it seems like your heartbeat is rising quite quickly. Would you like me to call your father?"

"No, it's fine but if anyone asks where I am just tell them that I went to my room because I was tired and I will see them tomorrow in the morning," I tell her.

I was barely able to make it to my room where my knees gave out on me and I fell onto my knees while crying. I don't know how long I cried but when I ran out of tears I got up and changed into something more comfortable, not caring to take off my makeup. After that, I went to my bed and just lay there numb and staring at the wall blankly, not caring for the outside world.
