The Toxic Love (Steve Rogers x Reader x Bucky Barnes )

Chapter 66

After our talk, things became a little bit awkward and tense between Bucky and me, so I quickly went to take a shower and to go try to talk to Fury about getting someone to replace Bucky. To my surprise, he said no because Steve explained everything to him and Fury understood because for the past eight years Bucky has been different on missions and he knew I had something to do with it.

I honestly don't understand what I have to do with it because before me he was fine, during us he was fine, and well after us he was fine, so it can't be. Right?

I left Fury's office when I wasn't able to succeed at changing my partner so now I have to spend the next 8 weeks with him to train the recruits before we hand them over to S.H.I.E.L.D. so they can finish off the training that the recruits need to become agents since they don't have a background in fighting.

I tried to look for Steve so I asked F.R.I.D.A.Y. where he is but she told me he was with Bucky so I just stopped looking for him because I didn't want to see Bucky right now.

Steve's POV

When both Y/n and Bucky finished training the recruits I gave the girls Enzo so they could look after him for a bit while I go and try to talk to Bucky. " Hey Buck, can we talk?"

"Yea what about?"

"Well, I wanted to talk about why you have been treating Y/n so badly when we both know that she didn't do anything all along."

" Even if she didn't do it she went out and dated the person she told us that we should worry about and started a family with him when we planned on doing-" I interrupted Bucky.

" I get that hurts because when we found out that she was married I was angry but I couldn't do or say anything because I lost my right to do that the moment we started to accuse her and push her away. I also knew that Alex would do everything in his power to make sure that Y/n would be happy and safe so I could tell she was. She even told them that she doesn't regret getting married to Alex because then she wouldn't have those memories with him before he died or wouldn't have a piece of him." I tell him trying to understand.

"Wait. What do you mean before he died and a piece of him?"

"Almost a year ago when Y/n was here with us, the X-men were on a mission, and before it started the professor was being kidnapped so Alex tried to use his power. The blast hit the engine of their plane causing the school to explode and the only death was his while everyone was evacuated by another speedster."

" When Y/n found out she went into a coma and when she woke up the doctor told her she was pregnant and about 4 months pregnant. So Y/n went from grieving the loss of her husband to trying to figure out her future and if she should have that baby."

" I didn't know"

"Yea that's because we made sure that you or Michelle and Dot didn't find out because we knew that would cause more drama and Y/n wasn't in the right mind for that. Even now many things are still hard for her but between the two of us she is doing much better and having little Enzo is helping as well."

"I get that and seeing her with Enzo just breaks my heart because I wanted that for all three of us but I get it because we moved one and she had the right to move on. I have been trying to figure out ways so she can trust me again but I'm not sure if they are good ideas."

"Have you thought about taking her to dinner or something so both of you can talk and not argue?"

" I have but I feel like I would be overstepping between what you and her already created"

"Bucky, the reason that I want you to regain her trust is so we all can try again to be together. And before you start to think anything bad, trust me when I say that both of us talked about wanting you to be us like before. Well not exactly like before because we have become different people over what 6 years that we have been apart but if you want to it will be worth it".

I tell and from the look on his face, he is thinking if he wants to try. I do hope he does because I don't want him to regret his decision because I know that has happened with other things. Between Bucky and I, we start to plan the dinner for both him and Y/n so they can talk.

Since we both know Y/n's favorites it was pretty easy to plan this but I did have to tell Bucky a few times that some of her favorites aren't her favorites anymore.

I knew that Y/n's and I's plan would work but to make sure Bucky was convinced I would have to talk to him and make him think that he needed to talk to someone to be directed in the right direction when he was already on it.

Y/n's POV

I was working in my office doing some work that I couldn't program to do by itself when I heard a knock on my door so when I opened it I found a basket. I open the card to see who might have sent it to me.

I'm sorry that I have been trying you badly for the past 6 to 7 years but if you are willing to forgive and talk to me, meet me on the roof at 7:30 tonight.

I smiled at the thought that Bucky wanted to talk and maybe fix what was between us. I already have in mind the outfit that I will be wearing and don't feel nervous about tonight. The only thing that I'm worried about is the drama that might come out of it with Dot, but mostly with Michelle because she is more willing to cause a scene than Dot.

I quickly finished and headed up to Steve and I's the floor so I could spend some time with Enzo and both Peter and Morgan who were with Enzo entertaining him. The first one to notice me was Morgan so she quickly got up and ran to me so she could launch herself into me when both of us were laughing on the floor were both heard little giggles. I turn to see Enzo being held by Peter who was wiggling in his arms trying to get away from him and to get to me.

Since it's only 4 and the dinner is at 7:30 I'm going to get ready at 6:30 so I have some time to spend with them and do whatever Morgan wants to do.

I asked Peter if he could watch over Enzo for tonight and he was willing to watch him because they both created a bond so quickly which I loved because that's the same bond that I created with Morgan from the day she was born. I can see Enzo just following Peter around when he is older because he admires Peter and wants to be just like his uncle spidey.

Just like Morgan was attached to me when she first started to walk and I would visit and stay with dad and Pepper. If either of them would get her away from me, she would just throw a tantrum and cry until I held her but other than that she isn't a bad kid.
