Authors note: sorry I've been gone SO LONG. But the title of this chapter seems fitting no?👀

Loki extends his arm out and I place my hand in the crook of his elbow as he leads us out of my room and down into the already packed party.
We politely smile and nod to guests as we make our way through the crowd. It's times like this that it's strikingly obvious that he's a prince.
He walks with perfect posture, shoulders back, chin up. He takes powerful strides, he's very adept and graceful at moving around a lot of people. Yet his face remains warm, although his "people smile" doesn't reach his eyes like his actual smile does, it is very friendly.
I start getting butterflies in my chest the more I gaze up at the beautiful man next to me.
"Ah! Kiddo, reindeer games. Nice of you to finally grace us with your presence." Tony says sarcastically.
"You're welcome." We say in unison, making the small group of people laugh.
As I was making small talk to some semi-familiar guests, I see Peter grinning at me from the bar holding shots.
"If you'll excuse me." I smile as I quickly weave through the bar.
I see Loki looking quizzically after me so I hold my necklace as I walk.
Shots with Parker
I explain.
Ah so it begins.
I hear Lokis sarcastic tone in my head.
I think about flipping him off but quickly decided that would be an awful idea unless my intentions for this evening are to be publicly punished.
Still holding the necklace pet, don't pretend for a second you don't love the idea of me publicly punishing you.
"Hey Saf! You look great! Are you okay? You're a little red." Peter rambles.
"Oh! No I'm fine, thank you." I laugh, taking one of the shots from him.
"Cheers!" We yell before shooting back the glass and instantly grabbing another.
"So how's everything going with Mr Loki?" Peter shouts over the music.
"Amazing! Thank you!" I shout back, grinning like an idiot.
A loud thud of a glass on the bar makes me and Peter both turn around. Bucky's sat at the bar just next to us, gripping his glass so hard that surely it was about to shatter any second.
"Hey Mr Barnes!" Peter calls cheerfully.
Bucky just slightly nods in our direction, his eyes cold.
"You okay Bucky?" I ask, reaching out to touch his arm but he pulls away.
"I'm great." He mumbles as he signals the bartender for a refill.
"Are you sure?" I ask again, worried.
"I said. I'm great." He glares at me before shooting back the whiskey.
"Okay... sorry." I mumble and he loudly pushes his barstool backwards and walks off to the other side of the room.
"What's wrong with him?" Peter laughs.
"Fucked if I know." I shrug. "Another?"
"Did I hear you say another?" Thor laughs, playfully pushing me. "Kind man please refill mine and my friends cups!" Thor grins at the bartender. Me and Peter give each other a knowing look of 'we're about to get so drunk.'
" Brother. May I steal a moment with my girl?" Loki snarls from behind us, after many drinks with Thor, and I smile despite of his tone.
"Sorry Loki. It appears Lady Safie, the Spiderling and I got carried away with our drinks." Thor grins sheepishly.
"Yes. Given that the spider is half slumped over the bar right now I'd say you did." Loki rolls his eyes exasperated and I can't help but laugh.
"Lo. Could you do one of your magic tricks on Parker to sober him up a little?" I smile, batting my eyelashes up at him.
"Magic tricks?" He cocks his eyebrow at me.
"Mhm." I dramatically nod.
"I will say, they are not magic tricks. But because you're cute and because I love you. Fine. I will help your friend." Loki huffs as he grabs Peter by the shoulders, yanking him upright before casting the warmly familiar green glow over his body.
"Done. Now can you please come with me?"
"Wow brother, you really have gone soft." Thor chuckles warmly.
"Dearest Thor, unless you'd like to relive the time you spent as a toad, I highly recommend you keeping that gaping hole in your face closed." Loki growls and Thor laughs it off despite the worried look in his eyes.
"Thank you, yes I can." I grin and lace my fingers with his as we walk towards the balcony.
Need to remember to ask Thor about the toad thing...
Wordlessly Loki conjures one of his black blazers and drapes it over my shoulders before wrapping his arms around my waist from behind, nuzzling his face into my hair.
"What's the matter with James tonight?" Loki asks once we're out on the balcony.
"You've noticed too?" I sigh.
"Noticed? He's barged into me three times tonight, if I walk over anywhere near him he'll sulk off." He huffs.
"What the fuck?"
"I don't know little mortal. But I'm beginning to lose my patience with him." Loki growls and I feel his muscles tense as his arms tighten around my waist.
"Try not to stress my love." I whisper, going onto my tiptoes to place a featherlight kiss on his lips.
Loki groans softly into the kiss, cupping my face with his hand to deepen the kiss.
"This certainly helps." Loki sighs. "But I'm afraid my patience is wearing thin." He says sternly, pulling away from the kiss. "If Barnes continues to push me... I will teach him a lesson."
I gulp.
"Well, let's hope he doesn't and we can all have a good evening." I say, trying desperately to sound perky rather than panicked.
"Indeed." He says as he snakes his arm back around my waist and leads me inside.

A few hours of dancing with Nat and Wanda go by with a constant flow of vodka, doing my best to ignore the tension rising between Bucky and Loki.
Thor and Steve started noticing too and began actively trying to keep the pair apart. Thor would purposely say something wrong about magic in a conversation within Lokis earshot just so he'd jump in to correct him and Steve just straight up resorted to steering Bucky in the opposite direction.
Which was kinda funny to watch. If I wasn't so nervous about the whole thing I would've found it hilarious.
I spot Strange walk through the door from the other side of the room and I politely excuse myself from the random people I've ended up drinking with.
"Hey Strange." I smile as I reach him.
"Safie, pleasure as always, you look lovely." He smiles back.
"Drink?" I ask.
"Definitely needed." He chuckles.
We walk over to the bar where Clint and Thor have taken up residence.
"Ah! Wizard!" Thor beams, clapping Strange hard on the back.
"I prefer the term master of the mystic arts but anyway, can I -"
"My wonderful man, drinks for the wizard and lady Safie please!" Thor shouts, cutting off Strange completely.
Me and Strange look at each other and roll our eyes.
"Never changes." Strange laughs.
"Definitely not." I grin as we take our drinks and cheers each other.
Tony joins a couple of drinks in and him and Strange try to out-arrogance each other like usual.
"How's your evening going kiddo, having fun?" Tony asks me, ignoring whatever the last dig was that Strange made.
"Definitely! The open bar really helps though I can't lie." I laugh and Tony playfully nudges me with his shoulder.
Just as we were catching up, I hear a familiar voice yelling across the room.
