                    Madelaina:

After we ate breakfast, each of us got a text from our parents informing us that they'd be home in a few minutes.

Which leads us to where we are now. Sat in the formal living room with them and the girls as they tell us all about their hectic time since last night up to now.

It should be boring but with the way his and my mother explain it, it's actually more entertaining than you would think.

"Anyway," Verona sighs. "That was about it. I apologise again for the inconvenience, tesoro. I know you like your routines and own things. I hope Lucas lent you some of my products? I can see he didn't with the clothes."

I smile at her. I honestly, truly cannot comprehend how this wonderful woman gave birth to the spawn of Satan. "It's okay. It wasn't convenient for you either. And yes, I borrowed some of your extra skincare."

"Did they suit you well?"

I nod.

"Good."

"Well," My own mother starts as papa helps her up. "I don't know about anyone else but I definitely am in need of a hot bath and some wine."

"Oh, I second that." Verona agrees, standing as well. "We will see you again soon."

"Very soon."

As everyone is saying their goodbyes, I tell mamma I will be right back and quickly head to Lucas's room to retrieve my bag and phone that I left charging there.

I check the apps of the notifications I have and just as I turn around to leave, something catches my eye.

Lucas's wallet next to his phone.

Now, I'm not one for stealing. Despite the darker shades of my father's business, I don't really go around breaking any laws or thinking about doing so. However, technically speaking, he has already stolen something of mine. The reminder shines brightly on his finger every time I see him. So, if I were to say, hypothetically, borrow something of his, it wouldn't be a condemning to the fiery pits of hell, right?

Before I can convince myself otherwise, I open the leather pouch and pull out the only card inside, slipping it into the back of my phone case. Replacing the wallet in its exact former position, I rush back out of the room and down the stairs.

My family is waiting at the open door and I brush past Lucas to get to them. My arm skimming his.

Mamma links my arm and we wave goodbye then walk to the car.

As I slide into my seat, a relieved breath leaves me but all the way back home, my phone feels hot and heavy in my hand.

As soon as we arrive, I barely greet an awaiting Rose and bolt to my room.

I enter my closet and lock the door behind me, ignoring the soothing feeling of being in my own space and instead, removing the card before setting it down on the soft ottoman in the middle of the room.

It stares back at me. Mocking and yet entirely tempting at the same time. Like when you know something is wrong but the idea of doing it is entirely too exciting to ignore.

He has money. Plenty of it. So do I. But the prospect of taking something from him fills me with a sense of satisfaction.

I purse my lips and unlock my phone, pulling up mine and Althea's text chain.

Me:
Let's go shopping.
