At her question, my heart continued to shatter. I stared at her as she avoided looking at me. I hoped that I could somehow convince her that she loved me. But, I knew that it was unwise to tell a person they love someone else. I knew that she would have to figure it out for herself. But I supposed I could only blame myself. It was my fault we were in this predicament. I realised I had been silent for a while; she turned her head and her green-- her contacts had been removed-- eyes stared into mine. "Sir?" I blinked and took a deep breath before speaking. I did not wish to lie, but I hadn't a choice. "I am your vocal coach. However, I am also your flatmate. Your sister, yourself and I live together." She furrowed her eyebrows. I felt the younger sister's eyes on me for a brief moment. "Why do I live with you?" Elyza looked to Liz-Marie. "Where's mum?" Liz-Marie cast her gaze to the cold, tiled floor. "Where's mummy, Liz-Marie? She should be here." Oh, fantastic. Elyza was worried now. "Elyza, mum isn't going to come. She's left. She's left us, Elyza." "I don't believe you! Is he making you say that?! Why are you saying that?" I blinked back tears. She hated me now... "Calm down, Elyza. Erik is not making me say anything. Mother left us because she thought we were disappointments, mistakes. She is not coming back." Elyza looked from me to the carbon-copy, back and forth. I saw the anger and pain fill her eyes... All over again. "Why should I believe you? Why should I believe either of you?!" Liz-Marie hurried over to comfort her sister. "Please. Just calm down and believe us. Rest. We live with Erik now, he is a very good and nice man--". "I don't believe that! Look at him! He's a freak! Did he bribe us to stay with him? God knows no-one else would do it!" Liz-Marie gasped audibly and instantly looked to me apologetically. I stared at Elyza in silence. Everything lost feeling and I froze in my seat. How could she...? "Elyza! Apologise!" "No. She does not have to do that. She is right. I have obviously overstayed my welcome. I am going to go." I stood, but the younger sister tugged at my hand. "No. Erik, she didn't mean it." I shook my head and pulled away, I straightened my clothes, nodded once at Elyza and Liz-Marie, and left the room, the tears beginning to fall.
