I didn't know what to think. She was apologising. Elyza knew it was wrong, yet, she did it anyway. I knew it was wrong too, but... I didn't want her to apologise. I suddenly felt... strange. Angry? Discouraged? I looked down at the work in front of me, and waved my hand dismissively. I would speak to her later. "Fine. You haven't gotten much done. Get to work." I knew I was cold, but wasn't I supposed to be? She had not done any work at all and my job was to teach, and assign tasks. Elyza was still standing in front of my desk. I sensed it. I looked back up at her. She seemed hurt. On the verge of tears. "Leave", I hissed. She nodded and said to me, voice soft, "yes, Mr. Destler..." She scurried off.
I apologise for the shortness of the chapter. Next one will be longer.
