I felt bad for hurting her feelings. Very bad. Her eyes were distant for the rest of class as though she worried. Christine and her friends were whispering about Elyza, I knew, but I don't think she noticed. She did not complete her work like I had said to, but instead, at the end of class, she had written something down, then when the bell rang, it seemed she had forgotten about it and left it there. I was curious to know what it was, but I didn't think it was any of my concern. However, I couldn't just leave it there, so, I reluctantly stood up from behind my desk and approached the table. I retrieved the paper with a somehow shaky hand, began folding it, but stopped when I saw my name. Why would she write about or to me? It was probably an apology letter of some sort. I started to read, but I kept getting distracted by her handwriting, her script. The way the letters connected so perfectly. I tried to read it how Elyza would say, which would be gentle and softly spoken. I braced myself for the content of the note.
