Once they were out of earshot of the classroom, Mr. Erik Destler leaned his back up against the door and stared down at Elyza from his great height. "Now, Elyza, are you going to tell me what really happened?" His voice was gentler than she had ever heard it and she gasped because it was one of the only times he called her by her first name. She had began to notice her feelings for him a few months ago, when he had unlocked her locker with a key because the combination was not working. It was the first day of school and it was going horribly. Then, she found out that this was his class, and she suddenly looked forward to coming to school, even if she did have to go through the relentless bullying. "I... I-I dunno what happened, really.. I was just trying to get back to work, and I suppose, Christine tripped me, sir.." She was staring down at the floor as she spoke, trying to keep the embarrassed tears from falling. "I see." The teacher's voice was low and dangerous again. "B-but, I-I'm okay. I'm sure it was just an accident", Elyza proclaimed softly. "It was not", he said almost immediately. "H-how do you know, sir?" She looked up at him, finally. Into those mismatch eyes. One was a royal blue and one was emerald green. She loved those eyes. She also loved the unique mask they were behind. Why do you wear that mask? Elyza's stomach fluttered, and she blushed. "She would not have lied about it if, in fact, it were an accident. Also, I am not an idiot... Neither are you. You also know the truth." He checked his outlandish pocket-watch and sighed. "There are thirty minutes left of class. You are excused. However, I must ask you to return here, free period, next period." She looked confused and scared, but nodded. Why would he excuse me from class just to make me come back during my free period? He noticed the look on her face and added in quickly, "you are not being punished. I simply require a favour from you." "Yes, sir. Thank you." He nodded and walked back into the classroom, leaving her alone in the corridor. Elyza sighed and went to the main office to alert the principal that Mr. Destler had excused her, but, that she would return to school next period. Then, she walked out of the door, to her car.
