- CHAPTER TWO -THIRD PERSON POV
EACH member of the BAU team gathered around the round table. Jennifer Jareau - or JJ as she went by - was the only one standing as she displayed the images onto the screen, showing off the victims of their newest Unsub. "This is Megan Blake and her husband, David Blake. Both thirty-five, found three nights ago in their home. This is Victoria Bianchi - twenty-seven - and she was found dead in her home two nights ago, and this is Emily Jacobs - twenty-eight - and she was also found dead in her home. All four murders were of the same MO, a single shot to the head."
"Execution style." David Rossi commented, flicking through the case folder along with the rest of the team.
"Exactly, and all of the victims were found in their homes." Derek Morgan continued, holding up one of the images so he could see more clearly.
"Every victim was killed the same way, a single shot to the head. None of the women were sexually assualted and no one was tortured." Emily Prentiss said, "There's no signs that they were bound."
Spencer Reid stared at the images for a moment, putting together the missing pieces just like Aaron Hotchner was doing beside him. "I recognize this, the same killings and the way the bodies were discovered. I've researched this case before."
The rest of the team glanced at one another, trying to figure out where they had seen the case before but were coming up empty until Rossi figured it out. "I remember now. Between the years of 1982 and 1985 there were killings just like this. The bodies were found in their home with a single shot to the head."
"What happened to the case?" Emily questioned, feeling genuinely intrigued.
Rossi shrugged. "We couldn't find the Unsub, whoever did it was incredibly organized and sophisticated. We managed to create a profile of the Unsub, I'm sure we still have it here somewhere."
"Almost like a hitman." Derek Morgan concluded, the rest of the team were thinking the same thing. The killing were just too organized for the killer to be anything but sophisticated and not done by someone who had practice.
"I agree with Morgan which is why we need to get going, the sheriff is waiting for us at the latest crime scene." Hotch announced, closing over his folder as he stood up, the rest of the team following their leader.
________
"Officer Brookes, this is my team. Agent, Morgan, Prentiss, Jareau, Rossi and Doctor Reid." Hotch shook hands with the man as he introduced him to the FBI team, they had only just arrived at the station a few minutes ago and they were already prepared to get to work.
Officer Brookes welcomed them all politely. "Thank you for coming here. You'll be set up in this room for the time being and anything you need, just let my officers know and they'll get it done for you." Hotch thanked him, walking inside the room where the rest of the team where and got to work with collecting all the files from the brown boxes on the table. "Those are the other files that Agent Rossi requested from 1982 and 1985."
"We better get to work then." Rossi gestured to the boxes on the table.
"Prentiss, Morgan. You two head to the latest crime scene and see if there is anything we have missed." Hotch ordered them. "Reid, I need you to go through the files and see if there is anything else significant and the rest of us will go through a profile."
The team started splitting up with Derek and Emily leaving the station to go and see the last crime scene. When they arrived, they were greeted by officers surrounding the area and entered the home that belonged to Megan and David Blake. They were the first couple to be killed by the Unsub after a long period of time and they needed to discover a connection between them all.
"This has got to be the cleanest crime scene I have ever seen." Emily noted, looking around the couples bedroom where they were killed. "I mean, have we ever seen a crime scene look like this before?"
"I've never. It adds onto him being a hitman." Derek then added on. "All evidence points to it, yet I can't feel like we are missing the most important thing."
Emily nodded her head along with him, similar to the rest of the team they had the same type of idea of what type of Unsub that had killed the victims. She grabbed her phone from her back pocket, dialing Penelope Garcia's number. "Hey, Garcia. Have you checked through the Blakes history?"
The familiar sounds of Garcia typing in her keyboard alerted them that she had just been looking through something. "I have looked through all of the victims and nothing seems to be pointing out, I'm sorry my loves."
"Try searching through their financial history and any text messages or calls that they may have made before their death." Emily told her, as she looked through the draws that used to be Megan's.
The typing made from Garcia acknowledged that she was doing what Emily had told her. A few moments later, the typing stopped. "Oh. Oh. I have found something...interesting."
"What is it, Garcia?" Prentiss asked, Derek moved closer to her so that he was able to hear Penelope better.
"I found a string of payments made from each of the families which was towards a private investigator, Mr. Holland Rain. The payments were over twelve months and they paid exactly five thousand dollars towards him." Garcia informed them, she stared in front of her computer screen looking at the numerous amounts of payment receipts.
"Where is Holland Rain now?" They questioned, already making their way back to their SUV which was parked outside.
"He is currently..." Penelope typed some more. "...At his work office, sending you the address now."
"Let's go." Derek said with determination, pulling out of the Blake home as they dialed Aaron's number to let them know where they were going.
