Aria's POV
Nervous does not even begin to describe how I'm feeling right now. It was going to be Spencer and I's first date and the anticipation was killing me. After Ezra had told me he knew I went into a stage of denial but as much as I wanted to deny my feelings for Spencer I couldn't. Slowly, around the desert section of dinner, I started to realise that I did like Spencer so much more than just friends. I never dreamed of her even thinking of me that way. I was so emotional after the dinner that when Spencer showed up at my door I completely broke down. "Aria!" I hear my dad call me from downstairs and I jump from being interrupted from my thoughts. Spencer hadn't told me one thing about where we were going or what we would be doing so I had to just take a gamble with my clothes. I decided to go casual or as casual as my clothes are and when I see Spencer standing at the door I let out a sigh of relief - she was dressed like she normally was too. I had told my dad that we were just having a girls night out and he hadn't asked any questions which I was thankful for. "Hey, you ready?" Spencer asks looking me up and down.
"I guess." I say giving my dad a quick peck on the cheek as a goodbye then I follow Spencer outside. Once we were in the clear I intertwined our hands which fit almost too perfectly together. "Where's your car?" I ask wondering how we were going to get anywhere.
"I walked." Spencer says an edge to her voice.
"You're kinda creeping me out." I joke. "Where are we going?"
"That's a surprise." Spencer says looking at me with a smirk on her face.
"Did I ever tell you I hate surprises?" I ask and Spencer laughs. We continue walking down the street until we reach a small opening leading to some woods. It was quite late so not many people were around especially since Rosewood was such a small town. I wouldn't have noticed the small gap if Spencer hadn't moved aside a couple of branches. She grabs both of my hands and pulls me gently into the woods. It smelt damp which was weird because it hasn't rained for a while now, tall trees of different kinds were littered all around, the grass was long and tickled my bare legs and there was a path but it looked like it hadn't been walked on for so long that it had become overgrown. "How did you find this place?" I ask amazed at its beauty.
"Kind of a long story, just wait." Spencer replies not giving me much. The narrow pathway eventually led to an opening in the woods where the grass was long but spotted with lots of different flowers, in the centre was a blanket spread on the grass, a fake candle gave off a orange glow and the trees provided us with shelter from the outside world. "It's beautiful." I whisper. Spencer pulls me towards the blanket and I sit down beside her. "You have to tell me how you found this place?" I ask, Spencer wasn't much of an explorer.
"Well, one day I was angry at my parents so I took off running. I didn't stop running until I saw a small gap in the trees. I wanted so bad to get away even if it was for just a minute so I followed it and I ended up here, it's kind of become my safe haven where I go when I want to get away." Spencer says sounding a little wistful.
"You can come to me if you ever just want to get away." I say softly and she smiles at me.
"Why do you think I brought you here? It's our haven now." She leans across and plants a soft meaningful kiss on my lips, I felt my stomach explode with butterflies and when she pulled away I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. "Here." She hands me a burger and I raise an eyebrow.
"I hope this is vegetarian." I warn and Spencer laughs at me, her laugh makes me feel so happy I can't help but smile.
"Give me some credit Ar, I know you." Spencer says with a smile.
"I know you do. Why did you bring a fake candle?" I ask curious.
"I wasn't going to be reckless, fire safety and all that." I couldn't help but laugh at her it was a classic Spencer move and it made the date seem even more surreal that I was sitting with my best friend on our first date. This was going to be a good night.

We talked for hours about nothing and everything until the air started to turn cold. "Are you cold?" Spencer asks noticing my shivering.
"A little." I reply. I watch as Spencer reaches over and pulls out another blanket from the picnic basket. She drapes it over our shoulders and pulls me closer to her. I get goose bumps from the heat radiating off of Spencer. "I was going to ask you something but I'm not sure if it's appropriate for a first date." Spencer whispers in my ear.
"What were you going to ask?" I look sideways and meet Spencer's gaze.
"I was wondering if maybe you'd like to be my girlfriend?" Spencer asks diverting her eyes from me, my heart was racing I couldn't believe this was happening. I reach my hand up and cup her cheek in my hand, her eyes immediately focus on mine and I smile. I lean in slowly and plant a kiss on her lips and I feel her smile into the kiss. "So is that a yes?" Spencer asks after I pull away a huge goofy smile on her face.
"That was a hell yes." I reply returning the smile.
"I should probably take you home." Spencer says I could feel her eyes roam my body.
"I have a better idea." I whisper. I lean over Spencer and she backs away so she's lying on the ground a devilish glint in her eyes. She wraps her arms around my neck while I hover above her body. "You're beautiful." I whisper taking in the whole of Spencer, her dark brown eyes, her rich brunette hair even the small dimple on her chin. I close the space between us landing a kiss on her lips, it quickly becomes passionate and it's not long before Spencer is pulling me closer to her so there was barely any space between us -you probably couldn't even slide a piece of paper between us. I felt Spencer's arms contract and in a flash I was the one below Spencer. She broke the kiss momentarily and gave me a wicked grin. She leans in slowly and I could hear my heart beat pound in my ears, she was close enough that I could smell her sweet scent that emitted from her, a scent she always seemed to have, it was like a summers day. I feel her nose brush against mine and Spencer breaks the kiss letting out a silent giggle. She proceeds to rest her forehead on mine and look into my eyes. "You're beautiful." Spencer echoes my words that I had said to her not so long ago. "But I really should take you home your dad might start suspecting."
"Is it so bad that I never want to leave your arms?" I ask innocently. It was true, in Spencer's arms I felt safe and content like nothing could ever harm me. Spencer lightly nudges our noses together in an Eskimo kiss and I can't help but smile at the gesture.
"I could stay here too..." She pushes herself up and then helps me off the ground too. "But we can't." Spencer says sounding a little sad about that last detail. I help her pack up the stuff and then we make our way back towards my house hand in hand. When we were just around the corner from my house Spencer stopped and turns to me. "I should say goodbye here." Spencer whispers.
"Why are you whispering?" I ask whispering back at her.
"Because I can." Spencer says a grin on her face. She lightly places a hand on my shoulder and pulls me forward gently before placing a quick peck on the cheek.
"Please tell me you're going to kiss me properly."
"I was trying to be polite." Spencer jokes but leans in and pecks me on the lips. "That's it, you'll have to wait if you want more." She winks before strutting off in the direction of her house and all I could do was stare after the girl, she really was beautiful. After Spencer vanished from my view I make my way into my house and as soon as I close the door I lean against it and let out a huge sigh. "Aria?" I hear my dad's voice ask.
"Yeah it's just me." I answer standing up straight now.
"Oh. Did you have a good time?" He asks looking at me funny.
"Yeah it was amazing but I'm pretty beat so I'm just going to go straight to bed." I say already making my way upstairs.
"Okay, goodnight." My dad calls from the base of the stairs.
"Night dad." I say before shutting my bedroom door and collapsing on my bed. Spencer freaking Hastings is my girlfriend! Everything is perfect. I hear my phone beep and I pull it from my pocket.
Goodnight, girlfriend ;) - S
