Spencer's POV
Finally, Christmas break was here. I look over to the right to see Aria sitting quietly in the passenger seat. All things considered we were actually doing pretty good, better than good, great in fact. Aria was staring out the window watching the scenery slip past. I turn my attention back to the road in front of me not wanting to crash. "You okay?" I ask changing my grip on the steering wheel. I could feel her eyes on me when I said that.
"I'm fine." She replies. "Spence, I've been thinking and-" She stops mid sentence and I frown in confusion.
"What?" I ask wanting her to continue.
"Nothing, we'll talk about it later." She says dismissively. I frown at her statement but shrug it off. We were heading to Hanna's since she was hosting the Christmas festivities at her house. Mrs Marin wasn't home so we thought it would be the perfect place to hang out.
I pull up to Hanna's house and get out of the car. I open the passenger door for Aria and she thanks me by kissing me on the cheek. I smile before following her up the pathway to Hanna's front door. It was already snowing and it was cold out. I walk straight into the house not bothering to knock on the door - I never did anyway. "Hello?" I call. When I get no reply Aria and I move towards the kitchen to be stopped in the doorway by Hanna.
"Hold up you two." Hanna says grinning like an idiot. I notice Emily is sitting in the kitchen shaking her head but still smiling. She points above our heads and I follow the direction of her finger with my head. "Mistletoe." Hanna says. Sure enough hanging above our heads was fresh mistletoe.
"Really Han?" I ask.
"Hey, you're the one who should check where you're going." Hanna says crossing her arms across her chest. "If you're such a prude you can just kiss her on the cheek." Hanna rolls her eyes at me. I turn towards Aria and she's smiling in amusement. No way was I just going to kiss her on the cheek. I lean down kissing her softly on the lips - my lips lingering there for a long time. It was only when Hanna cleared her throat did we part. "Okay guys, it's just mistletoe." Aria laughs before hugging Hanna. I walk forward from the doorway and Hanna turns to me. She tackles me in a hug wrapping me tightly in her arms. "God I missed you." Hanna whispers in my ear.
"I missed you too." I reply. And it was true, I had missed Hanna with all of my heart. I missed her calling me horn dog, and even though she drove me insane most of the time, she was my best friend and I love her. We stay locked in a hug for a long time, I didn't even know how long. When she finally releases me I give Emily a hug. "Hey Spence." She greets rubbing my back.
"Hey Em, it's been forever." I mutter still hugging her.
"We're all together again." Hanna smiles happily and we all look at one another silently agreeing that it felt good to finally be reunited.
We were sitting around Hanna's kitchen laughing and catching up on recent events. Hanna was apparently doing really well at college and Emily was too. "Alright, Spanna time is needed." Hanna says after we'd been talking for a long time. I look at Hanna and she smiles wide at me.
"We're not going shopping or anything are we?" I complain. Hanna was the worst person to go shopping with, she dragged you into practically every shop and came out with nothing.
"No miss grumpy, we're staying right here." Hanna teases.
"Aria and I were going to go shopping." Emily says and Aria nods her head in approval.
"Alright, so it's settled then." I reply. Emily and Aria stand up to leave and I quickly grab hold of Aria's hand before she leaves. "Be careful, okay?" I ask looking at her seriously. Not that I thought anything would happen but I just felt the need to remind her.
"We'll be fine." Aria leans up and kisses me on the lips. "We'll be back before you know it." She reassures.
"Bye guys!" Hanna calls as Emily and Aria head out the door waving behind them as they go before the door is closed and it's just Hanna and I left. "Tell me everything." Hanna demands grabbing my hands to lead me towards the living room.
"Han, the mistletoe." I remind her laughing as she releases my wrists.
"What, do you not want to kiss me?"she teases. I roll my eyes at her waiting until she passes under the mistletoe to follow her.
"Actually, I'm not sure everything is okay." I confess. It was like a nagging feeling in the pit of my stomach like something was going to happen just I didn't know what. I start with the thing that I actually knew. "Aria said something in the car today." I still couldn't stop thinking about it. Hanna raises an eyebrow silently asking what I meant. "She said that she had been thinking about something and then she said that we'd just talk about it later." I twist the engagement ring on my finger that Aria had given me on my birthday. I don't know why but it had become one of my nervous habits - like my tapping.
"Hmm, that could mean a lot of things. Maybe she wants to talk about wedding arrangements?" Hanna suggests hopefully. Even she seemed doubtful.
"That's not for years Han." I dismiss. "I don't know I just have this feeling-"
"Right enough of that talk you." She points her finger at me accusingly. "It's Christmas Spence. Time for joy and happiness."
"Not everyone has a happy Christmas." I say.
"If you're going to depress me, you can just leave." Hanna says sarcastically. She tilts her head to the side testing me to say something else.
"You're right." I reply shaking off my doubt. I was happy to be reunited with Hanna and Emily. It had been too long since we last saw each other.
"You know, it's too bad you're getting hitched." Hanna grabs a blanket and wraps it around our shoulders cuddling close to me. I laugh at her statement wondering what she meant. "We could have been roommates and lived together in New York."
"Why New York?" I ask frowning.
"Because that's where the fashion companies are, duh." Hanna says like it's obvious. "You'd be some sort of lawyer and I'd be the fun roommate who's in fashion."
"This is starting to sound like a TV show." I smile snuggling closer to Hanna. She was so warm and it felt good just to be close to her. "So, you don't think I'm fun?" I ask curiously.
"No, I think you're fun, I just think, I'm funner." She replies nudging me playfully.
"That's not a word." I say.
"That's exactly what I mean." She says smiling at me. I shake my head turning my attention to the TV. Hanna turns the channel over until we find an old Christmas movie. We sit silently watching the TV when Hanna leans her head against my shoulder. "I really did miss you Spence, like, a lot."
"I missed you too Han, more than I probably should have." I reply.
