Spencer's POV
I was sitting in my clearing after leaving my car a few blocks away and wanting to catch a breath. It was hard walking away from Aria but I knew it was necessary because I love her so much and I never want to hurt her. Except I had and I could tell I had from the pain in her voice when she had told me to wait. It was better to hurt her a little now then to hurt her a lot later. I hear a twig snap and I instantly shoot up from my lying position in the grass. As far as I knew only I knew about this place, well, and Aria of course. "Ow, stupid trees." I recognise the voice immediately I could pick it out of a million voices. I have to stifle a laugh at Aria's obvious distaste at the trees I imagine her hair got stuck on a branch or something.
"You really shouldn't talk to trees like that." I call out to Aria it was almost like the whole scene back at my house hadn't happened.
"I can when they're being annoying." Aria says now visible. She was picking twigs out of her hair and dusting down her clothes.
"You're adorable." I say allowing a smile to spread across my face. Aria saunters over to me and sits across from me.
"I wasn't going to let you leave." Aria says her lightness disappearing with her seriousness. "You ran out the house faster than Hanna ran out of that shoe store."
"They did have some pretty terrible shoes." I reply laughing at the memory.
"Yeah I know. You weren't actually going to leave like that were you?" Aria asks.
"I was planning on it but for some reason I came here first." Maybe I wanted to be found by Aria and that was why my mind had subconsciously brought me here. I feel Aria's hand on top of mine her warmth startling against my cold hand. I look up and see Aria's eyes looking at my hand a sad smile on her face. I twist my hand around slowly and link my fingers in hers.
"Do you remember the first time we met?" Aria asks out of no where. "It was before we became friends with Ali."
"I remember. It was by that old swing set in the park." I reply a ghost of a smile on my lips.
"You were carrying a math book and you were like what five?"
"You're never too young to learn." I defend besides it was practically the Hastings way to start studying young I was probably learning how to read when I was in my mother's womb.
"I asked you how can you read a book that is full of numbers." Aria continues.
"And I replied that it had words in it that it wasn't just a book full of numbers." I reply the memory becoming clearer to me. "And then some jerk kid knocked you over." I shouldn't be mad at the kid it was years ago but he had barged right into Aria and hadn't even said sorry.
"Yeah and you wanted to go get him but I was crying so instead you sat next to me and read to me." Aria says smiling this time. Her hand had warmed mine considerably and now I was enjoying the feel of her hand in mine.
"I wasn't going to leave you." I reply a certainty to my voice.
"We became friends." Aria says her smile only growing.
"You remember that day after school when you were lying in the grass outside of school?" I ask.
"Weren't we like ten?" Aria asks.
"Yeah, you were wearing a pink dress with yellow flowers all over it."
"God I had awful fashion taste why did my mom let me go out in that?"
"You had your hair in a simple braid and I remember just stopping and thinking, wow." I continue, ignoring Aria's comment. "You looked beautiful and when I joined you lying next to you looking at the sky you turned and looked at me and asked-"
"Why is the sky blue?" Aria interrupts finishing my sentence for me. "I remember. Then you launched into a long scientific explanation."
"Which you refused to believe. You said that the sky was blue because it was full of ideas like blueprints and the clouds were the thought bubbles that the thoughts just couldn't be contained in. I remember thinking that was impossible but I also remember thinking this girl is incredible." I pause and look at Aria and she's looking at me expectantly like she's waiting for the rest of the story. "I may not have realised it back then but that was when I fell in love with you."
"Spencer." Aria whispers quietly.
"The truth is I love you so much Aria, I always have and I always will." I tug on her hand pulling her closer to me forgetting all about the argument I had had with myself about why not being with Aria was the best thing for her.
"Spencer I don't want you to leave. I never want you to leave because I love you so god damn much and if you ever try to leave again I will personally handcuff you to a radiator."
"You know that sounds kind of hot." I joke and Aria laughs starting a burst of butterflies in my stomach. (A/N That pun was not intended I promise)
"I'm sorry." Aria mutters placing her pinky under my chin. "Now this might be a little crazy but my bedroom gets a little smaller everyday." I raise an eyebrow unsure of where Aria was taking this. "I've been looking at apartments." Aria admits.
"Really?" I ask in disbelief.
"Yeah and you know I was wondering if maybe you'd want to be roommates?" Aria asks a hopeful glint in her eyes.
"Are you serious?" I was still in disbelief.
"Absolutely, I've already got a job as a waitress so I'll be able to pay rent." Aria says grinning at me. The thought of living with Aria in our own space was very appealing. No one could interrupt us or get in our way but we would probably fight more often. Never the less I think I really wanted this for us. I place a soft kiss on her lips remembering how good it felt to kiss her. "I think I would really love that." I whisper in her ear and I see her smile happily. "Just no handcuffing me to radiators." I say joking and Aria laughs.
"I love you." Aria says pulling me into her in an embrace.
"I love you too munchkin." I reply to which Aria slaps me gently on the head.
"I cannot believe you just called me that."
