i didn't rly like this episode bc nothing rly happened lmao but there are some things i want to talk about...

+ LMAO NOT "you got to commit to one side of the canoe, or else you'll fall" is this the show telling gina commit to ej? commit to one boy at least?

+ i don't rly know what's going on with the gina and corbin song ((lmao like what was the point)) but maybe it's a metaphor for gina learning how to be a "good girlfriend". she tells us that she's confused why she's bad at basketball ((and gina is mostly good at everything,,, remember what ricky said in s1 episode 6?)). the song teaches her that dancing and basketball are the same,,, they're both for expressing ((LMAO IG?)) and she only has to try even tho it's scary or smth. all this sort of feels like a metaphor for gina struggling to be in a relationship. it's hard,,, but she has to continue pushing if she wants to get it right.

+ speaking of gina and relationships,,, let's talk portwell

after watching the episode for the first time,,, i was certain they were going to break up next episode lol. idk the firework scene was rly sad,,, but rewatching it, i realized smth...

earlier in the episode, ashlyn asks miss jenn how did she know if she wanted to ride on a cruise with mike bowen. miss jenn says that she saw fireworks. but remember episode 1?? miss jenn didn't want to go on the cruise at all. she went for mike,,, and bc she went to camp straight after,, i don't think it was the best trip ((weird how mike didn't drive her to the camp or stopped by to give ricky his present when he knew she was going there)). it was almost like she went straight to camp to distract herself with the kids instead of facing what she's denying.

at the end of the episode,, ej and gina don't see fireworks. it's supposed to mean they're not in a good place,,, but maybe it means that relationships aren't all fireworks. sparks, fireworks,, they aren't a strong enough foundation for a relationship. there's more to it. miss jenn and mike bowen is an example of fireworks not working out after all ((or at least i think it is)). i read a tumblr post saying the lack of fireworks meant that portwell was out of their honeymoon phase and they finally realized that this isn't going to be a perfect relationship,,, that they aren't perfect. but that doesn't mean the relationship was for nothing yk? it shows that they need to work for a relationship to continue. they're going to make mistakes,,, but are a few mistakes rly worth breaking up?? aren't they supposed to stand by each other in spite of both of their flaws?? isn't that what they talked about in the couch scene,, s2?
