a lot of cast members got hella good arcs this season,,, kourtney, ashlyn, maddox and jet? i won't go into them bc i generally enjoyed their developments,, but here's a few thoughts i wanted to let out:
+ i love maddox and jet - one thing that bothered me tho,,, their fights were very... idk how to say it. saylor is amazing but it felt obviously scripted. lmao maddox would randomly drop their entire history and it isn't natural.
+ carlos needed more to do this season ngl,,, he was just there for comedy.
+ val was great but too literal as a psych major.
all that aside,, the supporting cast still got better stories than the core 3...

ngl when ricky sang "begin again" in second chance,, i didn't think it was going to be literal?¿
bc this time he rly got a second chance. an entire do-over of s1 except now he got to make all the choices he didn't do back then.
what i think? ricky's going to have a rough season next year bc he got a free pass in s3.
it was disappointing that in exchange for a fun summer with ricky,,, he lost his depth as a character. it felt as if josh was the only one trying to put smth into ricky this season - all those specific looks,, glances,, etc. while they imply smth,,, the show never goes into them unless they have smth to do with rina.
ricky comes out this season thinking he's a changed man bc everything went well this summer for him. it's the most fun he's ever had,,, the most he's ever felt like a kid. unlike ej,, he got his last summer as a kid. the season ends with him turning 18,,, and while he was able to escape his troubles for all two weeks,, that means he will have to come back to salt lake facing all the things he didn't want to come back to. ((the nini part is closed off ig¿? i still think smth could be addressed here but idk if the show would still go there))

now he has to face senior year. deciding his future. dealing with his negligent,,, almost incompetent parents ((assuming mr. mazzara is back,, problems may arise in miss jenn and mike's relationship)). maybe reopening the wound from the end of his relationship with nini when he finds out they're putting on hsm again. idk but how could he not feel a little uncomfortable going back to being "freaky callback boy" when his gabriella is a different girl now? ((again, unsure if they'll address this but with rini's s1 story, the necklaces, i don't know how he wouldn't associate hsm with nini. tho i see the show ignoring this so that rina can sing can i have this dance happily LMAO)).
