so!! s3 is finally out and i can't believe it??? it's surreal (lots of surreal moments this past week, huh 😭)
anyway,, every week i'll make a review of each episode,, starting with my initial reactions then my thoughts after a rewatch :))

initial reaction
+ ricky's recap of s2 :,),, he's been the male lead since the beginning but he's rly being the main character now i'm so happy
+ ngl it took me a second to figure out who ej was talking about when he said, "we don't say her name" but then i realized oh, ricky's rly hanging out with lily.
+ the what time is it / start the party mashup was more than great but cut too short !!
+ ricky and lily's "relationship" is obviously not serious lmao and extremely one sided,, i don't think they were officially dating at all,, ricky was trying his best to get to know her while she was acting like he's been her boyfriend forever. they were hilarious tho.
+ can we talk about FINALLY FREE???
the lyric are killing me.
1. "give me empty pages, just give me something new",, ricky is tired af of all the pain and drama that came from all the things he wanted to stay the same so now he doesn't care and honestly??? good for him!
2. "i'm making up for the time that i lost on you",, ik this could be about lily bc he wasted time doing smth that wasn't right,, but this is so about nini as well. he spent two seasons on her only to lose her. i don't think he regrets chasing after her in s1,, but he was so lost in her in s2 that he lost himself and got emotionally worn out.
3. "i'm going down a road that i don't know,, i'll let it take me anywhere but home",,, remember ricky telling nini that she was his home in s2?? yeah i'm sobbing too. again,, ricky is tired. his "home" is broken and he doesn't want to go back bc it's painful. he knows he can't go back to nini bc they're on two completely different roads now,, but he's willing to embrace that this time bc he has no other choice and it's better than being depressed over it forever.
4. ((not rly an initial reaction since this bridge is in the full version but whatever lmao)) "i'm never going back to way back when",, screaming crying throwing up bc does anyone remember THIS lyric from just for a moment: "way, way back then, always dreamed it's you and me until the end"¿?
anyway the song is bittersweet on a rini standpoint (after the premiere tho ig you can say i don't feel that bad about it anymore lmao) but it's rly empowering and so deserved bc ricky has been having it hard since s1 and he deserves a chance to be happy and discover himself. tho there's a lot of escapism here,, meaning his self-discovery arc won't rly meet a satisfying end if he doesn't eventually face the past he refuses to look back to,, bc the past can catch up quickly ((hence,, rina)). this is setting up that intimate final rini scene i was talking about where ricky can finally face nini,, proud and loud to be himself and not hurting when he sees her.
