but the rini in me cannot stand by and say that "can i have this dance" is a rina song bc it isn't lol
ever since s1,,, i always imagined that this song would go to ricky and nini. not only bc they embody the troyella soulmate energy,, but lyrically i feel that they match the song best bc somehow they're able to relate to specific lyrics. them singing the song wouldn't just be cute and amazing bc it's a love song,,, but bc certain lyrics legitimately follow their narrative.

no bc "keep your eyes locked on mine" would have been a GREAT throwback to breaking free when nini helped ricky calm down by telling him to look at her.
talked about this before but rini is the couple tied to music
no other ship on the show shares a specific passion like how ricky and nini both do music and songwriting and when they were together,,, they often did it for each other. music was legitimately their guide throughout the show bc that was their way of expressing themselves and understanding their feelings - so it would have been smart to have nini sing a lyric that acknowledges this.
