It is currently 5 PM and we are on a run to the beach. I thought it was a great idea, but now that I'm here, I'm regretting everything."Come on!" Luke says as he runs in front of me. He is a lot more active than me and I am suffering.
"This feels more dangerous than running in New York at 3 AM." I catch up to him, gripping onto the side of a bench to catch my breath. "You run at 3 AM."
I nod, huffing and puffing. He stops running and he laughs at me. I look up and I can see his dimples popping out. When he laughs, my stomach fills with butterflies.
After what happened in the hotel, I've felt odd things towards Luke. I'll never forget how his lips felt against my skin and I can't help but feel like if I don't go after it I'll say what if. I have never felt this way about someone before, nor have I met someone like him. However, I keep reminding myself that once we finish with this Hampton trip, it's back to the single life. We only continued to fake date because of the wedding.
I'm not sure if I can fully say that I like Luke, mainly because I'm only feeling this ever since the kisses and words. But I also remember that Luke has treated me better in two days more than Ethan ever could in two years.
That being said, I can see myself falling for him all thanks to it and I am going to fall so hard. Someone stop me!
"I thought the beach was closer. We've been running for a while." I push myself off the bench, placing my hands on my hips and letting out a deep breath. "Maybe we should slow down. Take a breather. Why don't you relax?" I ask, he nods lightly.
Now that he is relaxed, I can pull my move. Just wait for it... I run. I run so fast, leaving him behind this time. "You got to catch up now!"
I keep on running and I can hear him laughing. I just let the wind run through my hair, giving me chills. I run down the stairs and Luke is nowhere to be found. I guess I did outrun him.
"Did you really think you could outrun me?" I hear Luke and I jump. I turn around and he has his feet in the shallow end of the beach. His shoes not far away on the sand. How did he beat me? I didn't even see him run past me.
I shake my head in disbelief, looking around the empty beach. I take off my shoes, placing it beside his and throwing my phone by his.
This is my favourite thing about this place, I can leave my valuables and no one will take it. Maybe because my phone is cracked in places you'd never think it could crack.
Making my way towards him, my feet getting washed with the water. "Feel like taking a swim?" He asks. Too bad I can't mother fucking swim.
I watch Luke jump into the next wave, fully clothed. "Luke!" I yell, going to grab him, but I grasp nothing. Someone is going to have to run back soaking wet. The wave eats him, and he disappears. He comes back out of the water, flipping his hair back.
