"Hey, Luke," I say, walking into the hotel office in Manhattan. My ears immediately fill with the sound of music, but this doesn't sound like music. It sounds like people screaming and from the look on his face, he seems to be finding peace from it. He looks up from behind his desk where he's flipping through papers manically.

"Hey, star," Luke replies, smiling at me. "before you say anything, let me reply to this weirdo." He types on his keyboard aggressively. My face scrunches up as I watch him hit send and turn his screaming music off.

He look back at me and asks me what did I come here for. "I was doing my calculations last night and turns out I finally have enough to buy an apartment." His eyes go wide. "No way." He gasps, knowing how much this means to me.

Finally being able to buy myself an apartment is what I've dreamed of doing ever since I've moved here. It's freedom, fear, excitement, release. "I need help finding an apartment."

"There is an apartment open in my building." Perfect.

That was a month ago. It's October now and I am on fricking cloud nine! Nothing can go wrong! Everything is going my way.

Luke and I have been going out for four months now! Four months! I even quit a job so now I only have two jobs. One at a bar and one as an assistant at a small law firm. I have never been happier.

Classes have started, but I am dreading it. It's my last year of law school. I graduate in May and I have to start studying for the BAR exam in June. After that, I have to live with stress because I won't know if I passed the exam until October. If I pass I will finally be an attorney in New York City.

And I am moving into my apartment today. It is a bit far from campus and, weirdly, my ex-boyfriend and current boyfriend live in this building, but I got an apartment!

I'm grinning like a mad woman as Nala and I reach the front desk. "Hi, my name's Indra Naese. I'm moving into apartment 4A today?"

The man at the front desk asks for my ID and some other papers we had to keep from the day I signed before he hands me the keys and gives us the green light.

When we get to the right floor, I practically dash to the door. I fumble the key a little and Nala pushes me against the door impatiently. She is more excited about my apartment than I am. "Hurry up!"

I bite back a grin, looking back at her. When I get the door open, a deep sigh of relief leaves the center of my chest. It's so perfect, and it's all mine.

I giggle as I run around the apartment, trying to take in every ounce of this apartment. The small kitchen, the New York-style window, the bedroom, and the open living room.
