Emma's eyes grew wide, and she franticly looked around the room, her hands on the sides of her head. Sierra stood up and placed her hands on my shoulders. My breaths began to get shallow."Hey, hey! You guys need to relax." She yelled over all the ruckuses.
"What do you mean relax? I am about to be arrested for underage drinking!" I absentmindedly tossed the half-empty solo cup onto the floor, the red liquid spilling on the dark grey carpet. Normally I would've never done something like make a mess on someone else's property, but I was about to go to jail so nothing mattered to me at that moment. I ripped myself from Sierra's grasp and turned on my heels. I needed to find Christian and Chase.
I pushed against the crowd as I ran in the direction where I last saw them. My friends were tagging along right behind me. This was what being brave caused. The one time I decided to stop being 'lame' I was going to end up in jail.
Sierra yelled my name, but she wasn't going to get me to stop. While I was running to God knows where, I bumped into a tall figure. He grabbed me and steadied me on my feet. Before I opened my eyes, I knew exactly who it was because of the scent of cologne and the hint of mint. My eyes met Chase's concerned green ones.
"Where are you going?"
"I was looking for you guys. Where is Christian?" I asked.
"There you are." Christian emerged from the crowd and grabbed my wrist. "Come with me."
We all ran up the stairs into what I believe was Liam's room. Sierra and Emma followed behind.
We piled in and everyone began to catch their breath. Christian had his hands on his hips as he scanned the three of us. Chase stood right next to him, his eyes mostly on me. Neither of them was struggling to catch their breath as much as Sierra, Emma, and I. Considering the fact that they were such good athletes, they were barely breathing hard from just running from the living room to the second floor of the huge house.
When I was finally able to talk, I asked the question that I was sure everyone was thinking. "Who called the cops?"
"I'm guessing that it was some dumbass in the neighborhood," Christian muttered.
"I mean, it is a Monday night and there was blasting music at 10 pm," Chase added.
"This is why I never go to parties" I pressed down on my temples. "I am in so much trouble."
"You're not in trouble," Chase reassured me.
"Of course I am. We are getting arrested!" I yelled in a whisper. "The police are a floor below us and we are all drunk!"
"First of all, nobody in this room is drunk. I didn't even drink because I am the designated driver," he told me.
"Plus, they're not going to come inside the house. They don't have a warrant," Christian added, much to my relief.
"How do you know that?" Emma asked. "I am pretty sure they can do that if they find a need to. There are solo cups all over the living room." Great.
The door handle jiggled, and everyone went as still as statues. I was about to hop into the closet but then Liam walked in. Everyone let out a sigh.
"What's happening down there?" Chase asked and we all turned to Liam for the answer.
"It's all cool. I told the dudes that it's my birthday and that I'm just having a little get-together." He shut the door behind him and sat in the chair by his desk.
"That's it? They didn't say anything about the drinking? And I am pretty sure they smelled the weed because it reeks down there," Christian asked.
"No, I know one of them. You guys didn't hear this from me, but I've sold him weed before."
