Chase's POV
Chloe was stronger than I thought. As she pushed and kicked, trying to reel her way out of my arm, I held my other hand between me and Yanique.
"Let her go," she commanded, continuously trying to see Chloe over my shoulders.
"I suggest you step back," I told her in a calm tone, trying to create an equilibrium because I could already feel the chaos growing stronger with every second that passed. It was as if I didn't even say anything because she even attempted to hit Chloe by throwing her hand past my side.
I grabbed her hand immediately, feeling my calm state dissolving.
I wasn't going to hit her, that wasn't even on my list of possible reactions. But, if she hit Chloe and hurt the baby, I wouldn't have let that slide. Never in a million years.
"Chloe!" Sierra yelled as she appeared by my side along with her other two friends. I searched the crowd for Chris but he was no where to be found. Scanning the rest of the backyard, I noticed that almost everyone was looking our way.
"What the hell is going on?" Sierra yelled before stepping past me to find Yanique's arm in mine.
"Did she try to hit Chloe?" she asked me, rage beginning to grow on her face.
"Chloe is actually the one who hit her," I told her and she glanced at her best friend before tying her hair up into a high messy bun.
Shooting Yanique a look so fierce that it caused even me to flinch, she stepped between me and her.
"Let her go," Sierra said to me, keeping her eye on yanique.
I released Yanique's hand and she pulled away before brushing her clothes off.
Tuning Sierra and Yanique out, I turned my full attention back to Chloe who was still spiraling. I grabbed both of her hands.
"You need to settle down Clo, remember your situation. Try to relax," I spoke to her quietly and she stopped moving to glare strongly at my face.
"Relax?" she napped and I instantly regretted saying it.
"Baby," I warned slowly. This caused all the girls within ear's reach -including Sierra and Yanique- to look at Chloe and I but I didn't care. I kept holding both of her hands and began leading her away from the crowd. She resisted walking at first but gave in when she realized that I wasn't giving up.
When we reached the front deck, she was finally breathing normally, but was still very angry and flustered.
"Chloe, what were you thinking?" I asked in a sharp yet sympathetic tone.
"What?" she replied, clearly annoyed.
"Fighting? You're pregnant, did you forget that?" I hushed my voice as I spoke so that the news wouldn't be released prematurely.
She shrugged and looked past my face. "She needed to know who she was talking to. How dare her? I wasn't going to have her disrespect me on my own property," she informed me and I exhaled through my nostrils. Releasing one of her hands but still keeping the other one in my hold, I watched her shift her weight between each of her feet.
"If I knew you were going to fight her, I would've dealt with her myself."
She said nothing.
"Look, you can't go doing stuff like that as of now, okay?" I told her and she looked at me like I had two heads.
"Why not?"
"Because you're carrying my child, that's why. I'm not okay with that," I snapped, feeling myself beginning to grow annoyed with her.
