"Um," she fiddled with the water bottle. "Yes," she lied and her shoulders dropped.
I wanted to call them out for putting her on the spot like that. She was clearly uncomfortable but it didn't look like they cared.
"Then you are a rookie," Vicky said before she and Regina laughed.
"I can help with that," Nathan said and my head snapped around to look at him. Chloe noticed my reaction and shot me a warning look.
"Watch it," I warned, ignoring Chloe.
"What?" He asked. "You're single, right?"
"Is Chloe your girlfriend?" Vicky asked me and Christian coughed on his drink.
"Fuck no, he's not. He's basically her brother." A disgusted look spread across his face.
I wanted to punch this idiot across from me in the jaw. I also realized at that moment, that the day Christian would find out that I fucked his sister, that he would completely lose his shit.
"Stop talking about me like I'm not sitting right here," Chloe snapped.
"Okay, okay. Let's change the topic." Regina took another shot, cringing again.
"What's everyone's body count?"
Nathan laughed and crossed his arms over his chest. "This should be interesting."
I rolled my eyes. Why did they think it would be fun to talk about the amount of people each of us had slept with?
"Let's start with you, Nathan." Vicky placed her legs on top of the coffee table.
"That's easy," he began counting on his fingers. "I'd say maybe six."
"That's soft," Chris taunted.
"Oh yeah? Let's hear yours," Nathan retorted and Chris grinned at him.
"I've lost count."
The two girls giggled and Chloe had the same disgusted look on her face that Chris had earlier.
"What about you, Chase?" Vicky nudged me and I pushed my hair back from my eyes. Crossing my ankles, I figured I'd just join in. Fuck this.
"Well," I thought. "I'd say, about eight," I told them honestly. Strangely enough, I kept count. Not only was it because four out of the eight I was actually in relationships with, but I also only slept with three casually. Chloe made number eight.
I glanced at her and saw that she was pouring herself another shot.
"Do you smoke?" Vicky asked as she pulled out a small, purple box from her purse.
"Not regularly, but I've done it."
She opened the case and pulled out a lighter and a small, glass bowl in the shape of a pipe.
"Do you want to?" She asked.
"Hey, if you guys are going to smoke, do it outside." Chris pointed to the door.
I wasn't a smoker and I wasn't planning on smoking that night. But when she asked me to go outside with her, I didn't say no because I wasn't an asshole. We were in the woods after all, so I understood why she didn't want to go alone.
The chirping of crickets were prominent and a gentle, chilly, but comfortable breeze blew around us.
"So if Chloe isn't your girlfriend, are you single?"
She asked and exhaled smoke from her nostrils.
"I'm not," I sighed and shoved my hands into my pockets.
