After school, I ended up grabbing a ride home from Emma because both Christian and Chase had a meeting with their football coach about the upcoming season. I wasn't a fan of Emma's 2000 Jeep Cherokee because the thing sounded like it could break down at any given moment. I always saved driving with her for last resort situations. I couldn't find Sierra and I prayed that it wasn't because she was with Liam.

When I walked into the house, my parents were nowhere in sight. The only reason I even remembered that they were home was that the family Range Rover was in the driveway instead of being locked away in the garage. I ran up the stairs to my room and dove into bed without even kicking my shoes off. The memory of how awful I felt that morning flooded my mind and I cringed. I laid on my back and stared at my ceiling for a few minutes. I was considering studying for that chemistry test that I had coming up but then I remembered that I did that already and was pretty much ready to do that test at any time. And besides, I promised Chase that I would help him prepare for it since he had trouble in that class.

I couldn't hang out with Emma because it was her sister's birthday, and they were having a family dinner at some fancy restaurant in town. I then realized that I was bored and had nothing to do.

Chase's POV

Coach had us meet him in the gym that day after school so that we could pick up our new jerseys and get the paperwork for next season.

"I am expecting all of you to come out well rested and ready to take the cake home next season. It will be your senior year and last time playing football here, so I expect the season to end with a bang, do you understand?" he boomed across the large room.

All of us erupted in howls and chants at Coach Dan's instructions. "Yeah!"

"Who are we!" He asked.

"Hawks!" we yelled proudly.

"I said who are we?"

"Hawks!" we shouted even louder as we jumped and fist pumped each other, some of the guys were even running around the room waving their jerseys in the air.

"That's right, come back here with that same spirit this coming August and we should have no issues. State Championship is what we want! Don't forget that!"

By the end of the meeting, I was riled up and ready to play even though the next season was well over three months away. I walked out of the gym with all the guys and Chris had his arm around my shoulder.

"Bro I am so ready for next season. I'm already so pumped," he beamed as a bead of sweat ran down the side of his face.

"Yeah man, I am so ready for those soulless drills at 7 am this summer," I said sarcastically, and he snickered.

"That's nothing, I'm used to that shit by now."

The reasons why we both wanted to win the state Championships next season were different. The reason why I wanted it was so that I could be recognized by schools and hopefully be given a scholarship. That way, I could take the burden of my college tuition off my mom's shoulders since we didn't have much, and even though she would have never admitted it, having to put me through college would be too much for her. She was already working twice as hard to save for it and it was only my junior year. She worked at a daycare, and I was sure it wasn't paying her enough to come up with over thirty thousand dollars in a little over a year.

Chris on the other hand, his parents were loaded. He didn't have to worry about having to work his ass off to get a scholarship. I was sure he was only playing football because he genuinely enjoyed the sport. I didn't even know if he had plans of going to college. He was the type to probably open a nightclub and make millions off of it. I guess he took after his parents that way.
