Chase's POV
"My parents are driving up to the cabin today to get everything set up for the trip," Chris told me as I carried three two-liter Mountain Dew bottles into his kitchen. He was bringing two big bags of chips.
Liam glanced up from the couch. "I brought a bunch of weed brownies." He nodded to the plate of brownies sitting on the counter with plastic wrap over it.
It had been over two weeks since we had the guys over at Chris's house since his parents had been home. His house was where we mostly hung out because he had the good stuff. His TV was 146 inches wide which made playing Call of Duty fun as hell. Daniel and Tyrese were on their way, and they said they were bringing liquor.
"Yo, I'm planning to get crossed faded tonight." Chris grabbed a brownie and stuffed the whole thing into his mouth.
"Be careful with that shit bro, I free-handed the ingredients. So, you can either end up baked or too sober. There's no in between."
"Man, I don't care. Shitfaced or not, I'm beating your ass in this tournament."
Every week, we tried to have a C.O.D tournament and the winner got ten favors of his choice. I won the tournament three weeks back, and I used up all my favors the first week. Let's just say I ended up a thousand dollars richer, got my car cleaned, and my homework done by someone who wasn't me. Daniel did all my physics homework since he was the only one I trusted with that stuff because he was weirdly good at math.
"You wish."
I sat next to Liam on the couch and grabbed the controller from the coffee table. I heard footsteps and I snapped my head up. Chloe hopped down the last two steps. She paused when she saw all three of us in the living room.
"Just when I was getting used to not having a bunch of boys in my house." She rolled her eyes and walked into the kitchen. A few minutes later, she came back out, opening the wrapper of a popsicle with her teeth.
"There's two more coming!" Chris ruffled her hair as he walked by her to go back into the kitchen. She shoved him and grunted when he barely moved from her pathetic attempt.
"You can't tell me that you haven't thought about hitting that bro," Liam whispered next to me and turned to glance at her. I got the urge to grab him by the neck and turn his attention back to the TV. But then when I looked back at her, I instantly saw why he said what he said.
She was sucking on the popsicle she had in her hand, her lips and tongue already red from the juice. She scrolled through her phone standing in the doorway, oblivious to the fact that she had two guys lusting over her.
"You better not make Chris hear you say that. And I can assure you that I will help him beat your ass if you say it again," I told him while still watching her. Liam's head turned back to the TV, and I heard him laugh.
It was my second time seeing her since I had my hands all over her gorgeous body. I was too pissed at brunch on Sunday to appreciate her then, but at that moment, everything came back flooding through my mind. Jack hadn't been home since Saturday and I was beginning to feel less angry each day. I was still determined to confront him whenever he got back from wherever he went. I even found myself hoping he'd never come back.
She looked up and I averted my eyes quickly. Fuck, I thought and stared blankly at the wall behind her. If I kept looking at her like that, I would blow my cover. I wasn't sure of what would happen if or when she figured it out, but what I was sure of was that I wasn't ready for it.
