As we arrived at the waterfall, I realized that I wouldn't be able to swim since I didn't bring a bathing suit. I wasn't aware that swimming was a part of our biking tour. I sighed as I hopped off the bike.

Dad kicked his bike stand down and furrowed his eyebrows at me. "You okay kiddo?"

"I'm fine, why?"

"You look like a bully just stole your candy." He teased as I removed the helmet from my head and wiped sweat from my face.

Was the whole Yanique situation bothering me so much to the point where it was obvious?

"I'm just tired," I half lied. It had already been an hour since we began biking and I was starting to feel it. My calves were burning and were on the verge of feeling fatigued from the workout.

The river was beautiful. The sun reflected from the foamy water at the base of the waterfall and I suddenly felt thirsty.

"Do you guys have any water?" I asked my parents and my mom pointed to the cooler on the back of Joshua's bike. I grabbed a bottle and chugged it down. Chase and Christian had already thrown their shirts and shoes off and were hiking down to the river. I followed the crowd down the rocks and tried my best not to slip.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you about this part honey, I didn't know either. I wish I could go for a dip, I'm so hot." Mom said while fanning herself with her hands.

"It's okay, I'll just sit by the bank and watch everyone."

She shot me a playful sympathetic look and I smiled at her.

We sat together on one of the big rocks near the water. Christian was doing a hand stand beneath the surface, his legs sticking out. Chase was standing on one of the big rocks that stuck out above the surface and was setting himself up to dive in.

"I've been meaning to ask you how your prom went," she told me and crossed her ankles.

"Oh, it was great. I had a lot of fun."

"Yeah?" She smiled. "I'm happy you did."

I nodded and looked at Chase when he dove into the water with a grunt. "It's freezing in here!" He yelled when he resurfaced.

"Is that Alex guy your boyfriend?" She asked and my head snapped around to meet her teasing smirk.

"No, he's not."

"Are you guys dating?"

"No, mom. I'm not dating anyone." My face warmed and she held her hands up in mock surrender.

"Okay. I'm just wondering. I know you and Greyson broke up. I really liked him, what happened between you two?"

Bile rose in my throat and I looked at her in disbelief. That's because he was never an asshole the three times you saw him. I quickly changed my demeanor because it wasn't like she was aware of the circumstances around Grayson and I's relationship. Technically, she was just trying to make conversation with her daughter about boys. However, I had forgotten that she even knew about him, that she even met him. The first time she met him was when she invited him over to have dinner one night before things went bad between us. Of course he had a lasting impression on her when he told her that he was planning to enlist in the Marines. The second time she saw him was when he came over to do our math homework together and he offered to help to fix the cabinet that she had accidentally broken. The third time was when she came home and found us sitting on in the living room after we were done making out, I had forgotten that she was home and it was one of the times I thought I wanted to have sex with him. Now that I thought about it, I was grateful that she came home when she did because I actually would have went through with it and I would have been regretful ever since.
