"Stop sucking on your lower lip. You're going to bust it open and bleed." Sunwoo places a tray of food in front of me, and sits in the seat on my left.

"I'm in deep thought." I cross my arms.

"Yeah well I hate blood. So stop." he says, and I do.

We eat in the library. I go for the books and Sunwoo goes for the WiFi. We both also come here for the lack of people. The cafeteria is so loud and you can barely hear the person next to you talking.

"Look at this list." I slide the paper over to him and he glares at me, because he was moments away from taking his first bite of rice.

"Sola. Let me eat."

"Come on, please? The deadline is by the end of lunch, as in 40 minutes, we need to make a decision." I hold the paper in front of his face and he sighs and puts his chopsticks back on the table.

We're the only ones here, other than the librarian, who has taken a liking to the both of us, because we make sure to clean when we're done eating in here.

"It's equal. The pros and cons." Sunwoo states.

"I know, idiot. That's what I'm trying to tell you." I say. "The universe is sending a sign that we're going to die before the ski trip, so we can't even make a choice."

"You are so dramatic." He reads the bullet points carefully.

"What do we do??"

"Here's what you do. You go to the room where sign ups are. You see the vibe of the room. If it's packed with football players then we don't go--that's an immediate no. But if not, take these." Sunwoo slides two of his three rings off his hands and gives them to me. "Close your eyes and pick one. If you pick this one, sign us both up." he points to the black band with roman numerals on them.

"Okay." I say.

"Meanwhile I eat in peace."

"I'm going." I stand up.

"Text me if you get trampled again!" He waves as if I'm leaving for war.

"That was one time." I frown at him. One time I went to one of Sunwoo's soccer games and his teammates ran past me and I was carried along with them. I don't blame them though, they probably can't see a barely 5'2 person from their heights.

I turn on my heels and I leave the library. I slowly walk through an empty hall towards the office where sign up sheets are.

I stand in front of the table, making sure nobody else is here. There are already at least 100 names on the list.

I close my eyes and I hold Sunwoo's two rings in my hands, shaking them carefully.

"Just sign up." A voice says next to me.

I jump, and my eyes fly open. Hyunjae appeared out of literally nowhere, and is standing next to me, watching me with an amused smile.

"I-I was..."

"Trying to decide whether or not to go?" He asks.

"...yeah." I admit.

"And you think magic rings can help you decide?" Hyunjae asks.

"Well sure." I reply. I open my mouth to say something about fate and the importance of believing in the universe, but luckily something in my head tells me to shut up.

It suddenly occurs to me that this is 2/2 times now that I've embarrassed myself in front of one of the most popular boys in my grade, and we haven't even had a full conversation yet.

"Just go on the trip." He says, and I look up in his direction. He seems to have fun watching me be nervous in front of someone unfamiliar like himself.

"I don't know." I say. "There are a lot of factors playing into this."

"Hmm, not really. It's very simple actually. A whole three days of skipping school, no parents and no chaperones except the bus driver. Sounds pretty sick to me." Hyunjae shrugs, and I hear his teeth against the lollipop in his mouth.

"Aren't you going to make fun of me?" I ask suddenly.

"For what?"

"For closing my eyes when I thought i was alone to use Sunwoo's rings to choose my fate?" I ask.

When he smiles the stick of the lollipop moves to the side of his lips. "Right. Well I thought that might be too rude to say to you first conversation. Didn't want to scare you off too fast."

"You couldn't scare me off." I cross my arms.

"Oh yeah?" He leans down and sticks his face an inch away from mine.

I'm determined not to flinch, but I don't even have time to do so because the door opens again.

"What the fuck are you doing??" Sunwoo's sharp voice makes hyunjae's cocky grin fade a little bit.

My best friend is usually a slow walker, slow eater, and things like that, but he's quick to anger.

In a flash, Sunwoo is between Hyunjae and I, his straight dark eyebrows furrowed.

"Is there a problem?" Hyunjae asks.

"What did he do to you?" Sunwoo asks me, not taking his frown off the other boy.

"Nothing, we were just talking about the trip." I tell him and he relaxes a bit. "Don't worry."

"Geez Sol. Does it take this long to sign two names on a paper?" Sunwoo asks, crossing his arms. "What did the rings say?"

I look at the two pieces of jewelry in my palm, I had yet to actually choose one.

"We're going." I look at Sunwoo.

"Alright." He says, and turns to the clipboard to write our names.

While he does Hyunjae and I glance at each other. He gives me a nod, I'm not sure if it was out of reassurance that the trip will be fun, or a goodbye. He silently turns around and walks out of the room, taking his watermelon smelling candy with him.

"You ready?" Sunwoo asks.

"Mhm." I link my arm through his and we walk back to the library.

"Seriously though, did he say anything to you?" Sunwoo asks.

"Just small talk." I promise him.

"Because if there's a problem I'll handle it. You know that right?"

"I know." I hand him his rings back. "Actually, they might not be as bad as we think."

"We'll see about that."
