😎📖💚🥞🌞🐙"Sunwoo." I take the headphones off my head and I set them on the keyboard in front of me. "We've been here for hours. You know they're charging us by time, right?"
Sunwoo hums as response. Normally spending four hours at the pc room wouldn't be out of the ordinary for my best friend. But not when he's been running around in circles in the game, completely distracted the whole time. When my ending rank is better than his, you know something's wrong.
"Sunwoo." I repeat. "Come on. Let's go catch a movie or something."
"No!" He says, finally turning his attention towards me.
"Okay what's wrong? We love the movies."
He sighs.
"Why are you avoiding going outside more than usual?" I ask, ripping the headphones off his head.
"OUch, fuck." He holds his ears dramatically as if I've pulled them off.
"Fine. I'm leaving." I stand up and he stands up immediately.
"We can't go outside." He says.
"Why the hell not?" I ask.
"Because," Sunwoo follows me to the front table where I tell them we're done. "I did something bad."
"oh no. What did you do?" I ask.
"I kind of... stood Sooah up."
"You what??" I ask. Sunwoo's rude, but not usually this rude.
He groans. "Okay I called her once, she didn't pick up, and... well that was it."
I grab his phone out of his back pocket. There are tens of thousands of messages from this girl and 20 missed calls.
"She's probably on the sidewalk crying right now!" I punch his arm with full force, because he deserves it. "I know you don't like her, but why couldn't you have just shot her a text saying no?"
"Because I..." Sunwoo sighs. "I don't know, because I'm an asshole? I just didn't want to contact her at all."
"You're the worst." I tell him.
"I know. But this wasn't even my idea okay?? I didn't want to talk to her in the first place!"
"Just tell her you're super sorry and you're just not looking to date right now." I cross my arms. "go on, text her."
He nods and thankfully he sends somewhat of a heartfelt text--the best sunwoo could probably ever do, that is.
"Okay. Done." Sunwoo says.
"Great! Now you get to help me pack for the ski trip." I drag him out and onto the sidewalk downtown.
"Isn't that not for a few more weeks?" Sunwoo asks.
"Yeah, but I don't have any snow clothes. Do you?" I ask.
He nods and we spot a mother with a baby in a stroller as well as a toddler walking towards us.
It's an ongoing joke that neither Sunwoo nor I like kids. But if a baby treats me with respect I'll return that. But not sunwoo, for whatever reason he hates babies.
Just as we pass by each other, the toddler smacks his shoulder against Sunwoo's leg.
"Watch where you're going." Sunwoo says, and the kid looks on the verge of tears.
The mother gives him a look and we walk past.
"You're the grumpiest person on this planet." I say.
"I know. And you're the only one who can deal with me," Sunwoo links his arm through mine as we walk all the way down the street.
