😎📖💚🥞🌞🐙"Sunwoo we have a problem," I hand him a tray as we wait in the lunch line.
"What?" He asks, not looking up from his phone.
"I laughed."
"Good for you?"
"No, this is serious. When I'm with him, I laugh." I say. "He's funny."
"Hyunjae?" he asks.
"Shhhh!" I whisper. I feel like people have been watching me carefully, observing my every move. They seem to be wondering how I got to be 'close' with Hyunjae, though we're not close. We're just project partners.
"So what?" Sunwoo asks. "Maybe you just have a bad sense of humor."
"Okay rude," I wave him off. "I mean this is bad. He's funny and good looking, he really has it all. I guess that's why everybody falls for him."
Sunwoo hums.
"But not me." I say. "I won't let that happen."
"Um you kind of already did."
"You're not being a very supportive friend right now," I smack his arm.
"Sorry." sunwoo answers, not sounding it at all. "But we talk about him a lot, what else is there to say?"
"You're right," I groan. "i need to stop thinking about him."
"Yeah you do." He says. "Oh by the way soccer tryouts are tomorrow, will you practice with me after school today?"
"I wish I could!" I say. "We're meeting again at his house to do the next round of questions."
"Ah okay," Sunwoo says.
"I'll be there for you at tryouts though. I'll cheer you on from the bleachers." I promise him. That's what we always do every year.
"you know it's a closed practice right? Nobody's allowed to watch."
"That's never stopped me before," I say.
Sunwoo's face nearly smiles until a girl cuts in front of us in line.
"Excuse me," Miji says.
"Bitch," Sunwoo mutters.
"What did you say?" Miji turns around, her light brown hair extensions whipping me in the face.
"I said you're a fakeass two-faced b-"
"OKAY" I jump in front of sunwoo before he can release the damage. "come on let's just go,"
"No." Sunwoo says, and Miji and I stare at him with shock. Sunwoo is usually the type of 'walk away' person. The both of us would avoid confrontation at all costs. Lately he's been different. I just can't put my finger on it.
"What is that?" Miji leans forward. She peers onto Sunwoo's phone. He's playing Cats are Cute.
Oh boy.
She bursts into laughter. "You? Of all people? You're even more pathetic than I thought,"
"Really Miji?" I ask. "You've used that same adjective on him three times now I think it's time you pick up a book or something. And it's not his, it's my phone." I snatch it from Sunwoo. "He's keeping track while I get lunch."
Sunwoo gives me a silent look of gratitude.
"Tch," miji says. She really needs to get a dictionary or something because girl cannot keep up an argument if she only knows a few insults.
