MISTY
Prologue
He was a hot guy, one that made chicks thirsty.
At the beginning of junior year, and possibly the summer before that, Kinton Gonchar filled up half my thoughts. It was simple: I had a huge crush on him. The reason this was so ironic was because I'd never actually spoken to him before, and I knew nothing of him. I just simply obsessed over him. Thinking about him made my heart flutter.
I just always thought he was insanely handsome and cute. Probably the most good-looking stud I'd ever seen. The way he ran his hand through his hair was so sexy. I loved his hair. It was parted to two sides, and slightly messy but combed. His voice was very deep - and he was a great singer who happened to also strum guitar. He was also a perfect height. Overall, I was just simply drawn to him like a moth to a flame. He also gave me sunshine boy vibes, his tan and everything. He seemed sweet enough to me. He also seemed smexy and good at everything. Not to mention his six pack, which I could see from him playing water polo. Yes, you heard me right. He had a visible six pack - he was ripped. It was no wonder I was helplessly attracted to him. He was charming, irresistible, and hot. Period. He was practically dripping with fire, like plain sex material melting all the ice cream cones within a one mile radius. And he was often swarmed by a full pack of shawties.
I couldn't help but turn my head every time he walked past me. He was just so mesmerizing and I was hypnotized by his charm. Seeing him just made my world fly past my eyes. The feeling made me...lovestruck. I simped for him. Badly.
The only two people who knew about my crush for him were Kendall Vidovic - my best friend - and Sandy McFly - my other best friend. And Kendall was constantly telling me to talk to him. For some reason I got the vibe that he didn't like me, and Kendall just said that he may have been ignoring me so that I would chase after him even more.
Her piece of advice happened to be trash. It turned out not to be true at all, because he was ignoring me only because he didn't like me.
I spent a lot of time trying to find gossip about Kinton Gonchar, his current relationship status, and where I could locate him. I figured out his entire schedule and where his locker was, in case I wanted to write him a love letter. I followed him around for a whole week. I even pinged him on Discord, but he ignored me online.
He broke up with his ex-girlfriend, Nicole, last school year, one of my discoveries from the power of gossip. He hadn't moved on since, which was good.
Because I could go after him.
However, a bunch of other girls were doing the same thing. As much as that frustrated me, I figured out his lunch spot so that I could look for him. I tried far too hard to pursue him.
He barely acknowledged me each time he saw me. I tried to flirt with him and give him hints that I liked him. He got annoyed at me flipping my hair in front of him and leaning toward him so he could smell the flowery perfume that I wore.
As time went on I got vibes that he didn't like me. But I still wanted to take my chance to confide my feelings for him.
I remember seeing him sitting on a bench at the park. I went up to him, sitting on the opposite end of the bench.
"Hi Kinton," I greeted him.
"Hi," he nodded at me.
I scooted over toward him. "Can I kiss you?" I asked bluntly.
His expression changed. "What? No. There's a misunderstanding. We're not...we're just friends. You got the wrong person."
Oh.
Well that was disappointing.
That made me depressed.
Because I liked him so, so much, and he didn't return his feelings, I was crying. Crying hard.
Then, a week later, he began dating a girl named Chelsea. Darn it. What did he even see in her? I was not jealous, because that was just juvenile. But I was pretty bummed out. He liked Chelsea, but not me. I had lost the competition. Then I started wondering how many girls he had even dated.
It upset me to see him eating lunch with his girlfriend. I "spied" on the two eating together. I have to admit, Kinton was soooo cute when he was smiling and eating his apple! Oh my goodness. I probably creeped him out by stalking him, but I couldn't help it. I liked looking at him, though seeing him with another girl made me want to hurl.
I had my stupid theories, such as Kinton was only dating Chelsea to make Nicole jealous. But that was obviously B.S. because he was probably just dating Chelsea because he liked her. And despite all the girls being after him, he wasn't a player. He only dated one girl at a time. But that could have made him a playboy. He knew how attractive he was, so maybe he just had puppy love for fun without taking any relationship too seriously. He simply just had his share of fun playing with girls and dumped them after a few months. Maybe. Maybe that was the case. But still, Chelsea had pulled my dude, and I was pretty annoyed.
So he was in a relationship then. He had a babe to look after. I couldn't expect him to cheat on his girl with me. He would walk away from me when he saw me. The truth was killing me, knowing he liked someone else. It hurt, but I had to accept it. I had to move on. I tried very hard, but it wasn't up to me to stop my feelings for him, because I couldn't control it. But I did eventually. It took around two months for me to forget about him completely.
Then I tried to find another guy. But there was no one else who was that good.
And then I started getting really jealous of everyone who was dating. A lot of people at Northbrook High were already in a relationship, but I was still a single pringle. It made me feel so sad and lonely. I wanted a guy I could be with. I wanted to get a boyfriend too, just for the sake of dating, since I was starting to feel really left out. No guy had ever asked me out before, so I was thinking I had a problem. I was also scared all the good guys would get taken.
However, there were other fish in the sea I could hook up with.
(*SPOILER ALERT!*) And there was another fish that I hooked up with.
