Prom was one of my best high school experiences. It was up there, at the top.

The aftermath of me being crowned along with Rick consisted of a rise in my popularity. In the hallways, people would slap me high fives and go like, "Hey Stargate!" or "Hey Gator!" Those were new nicknames I got from the school. But they were cool nicknames.

However, thinking about Rand trying to ruin my prom night by ruining my dress just made my blood boil. I loathed her, despised her so much for being so diabolical to me.

But forget about the toxic things in life. I wanted to focus on the good.

That summer, the summer before senior year, Rick and I hung out a lot, having lots of time on our hands. It'd been over six months already since we first began dating. How time flies sometimes.

Rick told me that he'd verbally committed to Yale University already, with a football scholarship. Yes, I was really happy for him. He knew Yale was my target school, so now that he was going to attend Yale, I would have to do whatever I could to get into that school too. Not with an athletic scholarship, but with my GPA and SAT scores, of course.

That day of summer, it was just the two of us. We were at the park, taking a stroll around the lawn of crisp blades of grass, enjoying the soft breeze against our skin. Wind carried a faint fragrance of flowers, sweeping the air clean. The sky was crisp and lively with clouds smearing carelessly along the blue. Singing birds wheeled around overhead, perching on trees. It was a beautiful day.

Me and Rick, Rick and me. Together we walked along the path, hand-in-hand. Rick was the one for me, and I could feel it. We were meant for each other. Everything that happened proved that we were meant for each other - our relationship sparking at the right place, right time, and how it all just happened. As simple as that. It just happened.

Rick was my first love. My first and last. My one and only. I'd never been planning to fall in love so fast in high school. It just happened so unexpectedly.

It was such unordinary love, knowing that we were sworn enemies to lovers. But love is just such an unordinary thing. It's so...inexplicable.

Rick leaned over and pressed his lips to the top of my head. "I love you, angel."

"I love you too," I said.

I love him, period.
