Chapter 28 (Annabeth)

The night was dark and full of danger and my pursuers were gaining on me. I tried to think of a way to lose them, but my head was still spinning from what they did to me. I barely escaped their clutches when I ran away. My friend sacrificed himself for me. He made a diversion as I ran.

My memory is still fuzzy and the earliest I can remember is coming to my senses as someone was pulling me and running. There were sounds of gunfire and explosions everywhere, and the walls of the corridor were glaringly white. There was the smell of disinfectant and smoke in the air like we were in a facility and it was on fire. From the sounds of the explosion, it probably was.

We passed through many doors and corners, even passing by some men and women in uniform passed out on the floor.

"The others already got out. I think we're the last ones here, Annabeth," the boy pulling me said. Just as he spoke, people in uniform rounded the corner and saw us. There was shouting and they suddenly pulled out their guns and aimed at us. The boy in front of me raised his arms and pipes exploded from overhead, showering the men in uniform in dirty water and knocking them off their feet. We quickly hopped over the disoriented men and ran the corner.

That was when the boy pulled me behind a wall and told me to run ahead and he will make a distraction for us to get away.

"Come with me. We can make it!" I tried and failed, to convince him.

"No, they'll catch up to us. These mortals are well-trained, and I am injured. I can probably run if we had ambrosia, but we ran out of that when the Mist disappeared." I didn't understand him, because from what I heard from them talking, they tried to erase my memories. Ambrosia? Nectar? What was that? I couldn't even remember his name. All I knew was that I trusted him with my life.

He then pushed me forward as more people in uniforms arrived, this time carrying batons. Before I could do anything else, he already charged at them and I had no choice but to run.

As I ran from them, I remembered his last words to me. "I love you Wise Girl. Try to remember us. Get to camp, get help. Get the gods. I love you." That was all he said as I turned a corner and heard pipes exploding.

I couldn't run anymore, so I hid here for a while. I don't know where I am. I got out of the facility and there were many abandoned buildings in what looked like a small abandoned town so I ran inside one to hide.

I still can't understand most of the things he said to me. I don't know where this "camp" is. All I know is that I remember him now. Gods help me, I'm just writing everything on a piece of paper to preserve our memories. Because now I remember him. Percy Jackson, the love of my life, my Seaweed Brain, sacrificed himself for me. I will get revenge. I swear it on the Styx.

A/N: Surprise update! It's only a short one though. I got some free time lately so I decided to update. I think this will have around 35-40 chapters but I don't know when I'll be able to finish it.
