After waiting so long for Annabeth and Piper to return, I promptly fell asleep. Hey, who cares? There's nothing for me to do and I was so tired. I didn't even notice how tired my eyes were until I realized that I was already slumped on the wall and my eyes have closed.
I found that I was in a forest, with the birds chirping around me and wild game running about. I took out my can of mace and aegis, then started to hunt them. It had been really fun until the large bird dropped out of the sky.
A giant eagle dropped suddenly from the sky and landed in front of me, spreading its wings proudly. It glared at me intensely as if daring me to challenge it in a fight, but as I said, it was giant. It was easily double the size of me, and I may not be Annabeth but I know enough that that would be a formidable opponent. That was when the eagle lifted a foot and I noticed the piece of rolled paper tied to its leg. I approached the eagle to try and take off the note but it hopped away and tried to peck my head off. I dodged and rolled out of the way, barely escaping its beak.
I took a few steps back and looked at the eagle which was now glaring at me. Well, this bird is going to get it. I lifted Aegis to its eye level and dashed towards it when I saw it shrink back from the shield. I drew my arm back and threw my spear at it like a javelin, calling on lightning and charging it as it left my hand. The eagle didn't stand a chance. It saw the spear with widened eyes before it got fried. I gave out a little whoop and fisted the air and ran to it to retrieve the letter. I bent down to take it off from its leg when I noticed something.
"Schist," I cursed. The letter was burnt, with only half of it recognizable. I could only read the lower half of it.
"The torches have to be saved. They will be your only hope against them.
The Gods"
I read, then promptly woke up.
I was still in my sleeping position on the floor with my back against the wall facing the door, and there were no other sounds but the soft drip-drip-drip of water coming from the corner of the room. I stand up groggily and try to shake off my drowsiness. I stretched my arms behind my back and yawned, cracking my neck. Frank probably heard me and spoke up.
"Bad dream?" He asked.
I turned to the right and looked at him. I didn't even notice he was awake, his eyes were closed and his breathing was slow. He opened his eyes and stared at the door.
"Yeah," I answered. "Something about an eagle and a letter,"
"A letter? From whom?"
"From the gods. But it got burned in my dream. I only saw the last few parts,"
"What did they say?" Percy suddenly asked, rubbing his eyes. His hair was messed up and looked like a rat's nest.
"Like I said, the letter got burnt, so I only saw the end. It said The torches have to be saved. They will be your only hope against them." I replied.
"Only hope against what?" Frank asked what we were all probably thinking. There was a long silence after that, and I just leaned on the wall to further think about my dream. If only I didn't electrify the eagle, then the letter wouldn't have burnt.
Just then, the door opened and Annabeth and Piper finally walked in. I stood so suddenly dark spots danced across my vision and I almost stumbled. I put a hand against the wall to right myself.
"Hey, so what happened? Everything okay? We can go?" I asked Annabeth.
"Well, not exactly," Piper answered me.
"They're helping us get Hecate if we help them here first," Annabeth said.
"Great," I said.
