"Wait, what?" Percy asked, "What do you mean the Mist is gone? Isn't it supposed to be like, always there?"
I was already trying to hide my panic. If what Chiron said is true, either the Mist is gone, or it's thinned so much that Mortals can see through it. This can cause mayhem. Panic. Chaos. IT also means that there is something VERY wrong. Something with Hecate. She's the goddess of the Mist, so she'll have something to do with this.
"What about the gods? Do they know what's happening? Hecate?" I asked Chiron.
"We haven't received any contact with the gods. Iris-Messages still work, but Olympus is blocked off. The Hecate cabin has been searching for anything to help," Chiron replied. Just then, Lou Ellen of the Hecate Cabin came running in, panting.
"Chi- ron!" She said, taking a deep breath and steadying herself.
"What is it, Lou? Have you found anything?" I asked.
"Yes- No- We found something but it's bad. Really bad." Lou Ellen answered.
"What did you find?" Chiron looked at her.
"It's bad. Really bad. We tried our spells, controlling the Mist, contacting the other Hecate kids who are on vacation if they know anything. Nothing. The Mist is really gone. We tried contacting our mother, but she's gone. It seems like she's disappeared or got taken." Her voice cracked at the end.
"Wait, Hecate's gone? She's a goddess! How can she be taken?" Percy exclaimed.
"If Hera, an Olympian, can be captured, Hecate can be captured too, of course!" I told him.
"Then what must we do?" Percy asked.
"We'll need a quest, seaweed brain. Chiron, are the other councilors here?" I asked Chiron.
"Yes, they are. We'll need to have a council meeting. We'll skype Camp Jupiter and see what happens. Percy, gather the councilors. I believe you'll find them in their usual schedules. Annabeth, get Rachel. We will need a new prophecy,"
"What about me?" Lou Ellen asked.
"I'll need you here, for now, dear. We'll have to discuss what might have happened to your mother," Chiron said.
I ran to find Rachel. I checked her cave first, of course. She wasn't there so I looked around Camp and found her in the Hecate Cabin. She had her back turned to me, staring at the empty cabin. The Hecate children must have left to do something. I approached her and tapped her on the shoulder.
"Rachel? What are you doing here?" I asked. She gave a startled squeak and jumped away from me.
"Annabeth? What are you doing here? I thought it's your first day of uni?" Rachel asked, hugging me.
"It was, but we had to come back. What are you doing here? There's going to be a councilor meeting and we need you in the Big House!" I told her.
"This is about the Mist, isn't it?" she said " I've been having these visions, Annabeth, and they're bad. Then I had the feeling I had to go out to Hecate's Cabin, but nothing's happened."
"We'll see about that later. For now, come with me to the Big House. The council meeting's about to start. We'll need a prophecy," I said, pulling her along. We arrived at the Big House to see everyone in the rec room around the ping pong table already talking about the quest to look for Hecate.
"Annabeth, Rachel. Good, you're here. Rachel, we'll need a prophecy. Lou Ellen seeing as you will be the leader of this quest, ask for it," Chiron said, acknowledging us. Lou Ellen looked at Rachel with glassy eyes and said
"How do we restore the Mist?"
Green smoke engulfed Rachel and when it settled, her eyes were green and she spoke with green smoke spouted from her mouth.
Three demigods shall take a quest
Leading them to the goddess in the west
Two magicians and another demigod
Shall accompany them and without a flaw
Together they must work to fix the veil
Lest all the world is doomed to fail
Deaths in battle will come and go
But pantheons together must vanquish the Shadow.
And Rachel promptly fainted in the waiting arms of Will.
