"BOSS!" Blackjack yelled in my head as we dodged a missile heading for us. The chop-chop-chop of helicopters could be heard more clearly now.
"Dive!" I yelled, and all the pegasi followed suit. More missiles were fired and the chopper tried to follow, diving after us.
"Thalia! Do something!" Annabeth yelled. At first, Thalia wouldn't look up from her Pegasus and had her head still buried n his mane, but she looked up at the helicopter trying to follow us.
"Boss, I won't let her fall," Her Pegasus, a black stallion named Hank, said.
"He just said he won't let you fall, so do your thing," I told Thalia, which seemed to reassure her. She closed her eyes and raised her hands up to the sky. Her hands were shaky at first since we were still being pursued by the helicopter and the Pegasi were trying to fly their fastest even though they were tired and hungry, but her hands steadied and clouds started to form on the otherwise clear sky.
Thunder rumbled, sounding far away but coming closer by the second. We turned a sharp left, and the helicopter pursuing us continued forward for a bit before turning sideways and going on at full speed. I could see that someone was already taking aim using a large gun that was hanging by the helicopter's side. The soldier aimed at Frank's Pegasus and was about to fire when a fierce wind blew the helicopter off-course. They righted their track and still chased after us, though we were already a considerable distance away.
She concentrated again, and soon enough, bolts of lightning were striking behind us, but they were far enough that neither us nor the helicopter was hit, but it continued striking down in front of the helicopter, so much that they had no choice but to turn back.
I asked the Pegasi if they were alright and was relieved to hear a chorus of "Yes sir!"s and we adjusted our course with the help of Annabeth to go back to flying to China.
I always thought that being famous meant that people will like me and all that stuff. I was wrong. We couldn't land the Pegasi anywhere, and they were already complaining a lot about being tired and hungry. Finally, we found a forest a few hours before midnight and the Pegasi laded in a clearing inside it so that nobody would see us.
We let the horses graze as we set up our own camp to rest and eat. Annabeth went straight to planning as Thalia went to the woods to hunt some animals because our food supply was low. we didn't think things like this would happen.
"Maybe if we went this way, we could follow the trail that the Hecate cabin..."
"Hey Wise Girl! So, what do you think we should do?" I asked, interrupting her planning. She glared at me but pouted when I looped an arm around her shoulders.
"I'm still thinking. We can follow Hecate up until this point," she held out a map, tracing her finger from where we were to a point highlighted in it. "But now that everyone's surely out there for the bounty to get us, which, by the way, Leo said was at least a hundred thousand dollars per person-"
"A hundred thousand dollars per person?!" Piper piped up. She was surprised but I can tell she kept herself in check.
"A hundred thousand," Annabeth confirmed.
"Okay, back to business. Nw that they're searching for us, what do we do? We can't follow that path. It passes through a lot of cities. Even if we fly high, Planes and Anti-Air Missiles can catch up to us. you saw what that helicopter did," Frank said.
The sudden sound of loud footsteps like someone was chasing another person echode in the clearing. Not long after, Thalia appeared at the edge of the woods, her silver knives drawn out, running toward us.
"Run!" She yelled. Before we could do anything, a voice was projected from something that sounded like speakers.
"Stop! Don't move! Sheathe your weapons!"
