"No, Percy! You don't know how it will-"
"You just said all it needs is pain. I won't spill a single drop of blood and I won't have to die. Trust me on this, Wise Girl. I won't leave you," Percy interjected. I wasn't able to do anything as Percy summoned water to put his hands on the chains, his hands immediately forming blisters.
He grit his teeth but said nothing as his hands burned. Looking at him hurt as if I was the one who was burning. He held on tighter and called Thalia.
"Thalia, now!"
Right on cue, Thalia raised a hand towards Percy's hands as lightning struck her like a lightning rod, shattering the windows and showering glass on us. I raised my hands to cover my face and looked at Percy. The lightning rebounded off Thalia's hands and hit him directly, lighting him up like a bulb. His hair stood on end and the smell of burning flesh hit my nose.
"Percy!" I yelled. He grunted in pain and held on for a few more seconds, the lightning streaking through him and dissipating through the ground. I looked at the chains, but they were still intact. Nothing happened.
"It needs more. Feed it more pain and I will be free," The goddess said. They repeated the process, but I went out to help Piper and Frank who had run out earlier to help the descendants. The sounds of fighting had died off and I was wondering what was happening when I suddenly heard the loud spinning of helicopter blades. The others were all in position, the soldiers unconscious around them. We all looked for the source of the sound.
The whirring got louder as I saw ten choppers arrive and drop down at least five soldiers each.
"Stand down!" The man in front yelled. The soldiers went in position and raised their guns at us. They were also using tranquilizers. Piper opened her mouth to use her charmspeak when the soldiers started to fire. The last thing I saw before falling into unconsciousness is Frank transforming to a rabbit and hopping away.
I woke up strapped to a table in a white room that was filled with machines whirring. Around me where some of the descendants and Piper and Frank, who were also strapped. Piper had a gag and Frank had a collar around his neck which glowed a menacing blue. I tried to move my hands but to no avail. The only part of me not strapped to the table was my head.
"Piper!" I called. She still didn't stir. I tried yelling for Frank, but with no result. The first one to wake was a descendant to my right.
"W-where are we?" he asked.
"I don't know," I replied. "I woke up strapped to this table already," I stopped looking at him and looked straight up, my neck starting to ache. Just then, a woman in a lab coat went in. She looked surprised that we were awake.
"Oh, hello there! Didn't realize some have awoken before the procedure! I don't really know how to interact with you I'm sorry!" She said. "I'll have to put you to sleep again until they're done with the operation,"
"What operation?" I asked.
"Oh, she talked to me! I don't really know how to feel. This isn't allowed!" She spoke to herself. Then she turned to me. "Well, dear, you'll be operated to remove your memories. They'll take them in order to study them,"
"Who?"
"Well, the governments, of course!" She said before puncturing me with a needle. For the second time, I black out.
A/N: Well, this book is nearing it's end. Don't worry! I've got ideas for the next two books in this series so this will at least be a trilogy! Last few chapters left!
