I don't really know what happened after we went inside. I was surprised with how the interior looked like, of course, but there was no time. We had to evacuate everybody. We ran through halls and doors with Sadie and Carter in front of us, checking every room. Once we were sure that nobody was left behind (Sadie said that everyone was already there) she stood in front of the great statue with the bird head and closed her eyes like she was having a conflict with herself. Not even a minute later, a swirling vortex of sand appeared in front. All the Egyptians seemed used to this and hopped in. We, however, stayed back and it seems we were all wary of this swirling sand. Not even an hour in and I'm already in danger? No thanks. I was about to step back when Carter noticed that none of us were moving and told us to follow them.
"We're not going inside that," Cecil said. I respect the guy. With all my experiences with my new life as an einherjar and son of Frey, I still get random surprises from time to time. And most of them aren't at all pleasant.
"It's a portal that leads to the First Nome. It's the safest place for us for now. We can start the quest tomorrow," Carter explained.
"If you say so," Lou Ellen said. "Let's go before they can do anything,"
"COME OUT OF THE BUILDING WITH YOUR HANDS UP!" A man's voice came out of loudspeakers, probably from the choppers.
"You bloody le-" Sadie started to yell but Carter put his hand on her mouth.
"Let's go!" He called. We immediately obeyed. Sadie was the last one through. When she got out, the portal closed. Only then did I see that we were in the middle of some sort of hall, curtains, and veils that showed scenes that looked like they were from Ancient Egypt surrounding us. Sadie started walking towards the end, where a throne stood by itself.
"Let's go to our rooms. We'll show you where you'll stay for the time being. Don't worry, they can't find us down here," Carter said.
"Down here?" I asked.
"We're a few miles under the Great Pyramid of Giza. Welcome to the First Nome, the motherland."
"Wow," Lou Ellen gasped, turning around. "The Egyptians had scrolls of magic and wonderful abilities! I thought they were lost or something. Didn't they excavate this area before?"
"They tried, but the magicians sealed off the entrance. Only people who are magicians or allowed by one can enter the first nome," A voice said from behind Carter. A man stepped out from behind the throne, wearing a trenchcoat and a fedora, with his hair in a braid. "Sorry for not coming here earlier. I'm Amos, their Uncle, and currently in charge of the House of Life while Carter here goes to school,"
We all introduced ourselves one by one, and he started to walk to show us where we were supposed to stay the night.
"The humans can see through the uppermost layer of the Duat now and unless we do something about it, more incidents like this will occur," Amos said.
"That's the reason for our quest," Lou Ellen mentioned.
"Quest? Then you're here to restore it then?"
"We have a prophecy about it," Will answered. He then recited the prophecy which I only heard for the first time. When she finished, I was stunned.
"Deaths in battle?" I asked. I am an einherjar, so dying is normal for me, in the Hotel Valhalla. If I die while outside the Hotel then I'm dead for good.
"It also said that together we should all work to fix the veil, which I'd say is the Duat, or as you may know it, the Mist," Amos said. "Then who is this goddess in the west?"
"We have a feeling that it's Hemera, the Greek primordial of Day. She is day personified," Cecil answered. "Lou here had a vision that she was trapped in a cave somewhere while someone was draining her power and she was asking for our help,"
"If she is day personified, then who is powerful enough to capture her and drain her powers?" Sadie asked.
"Erebus, the primordial of darkness. We do not know why he is doing this, but if Hemera isn't saved, we might not have a chance of restoring the Mist," Lou Ellen replied.
"Wait- what's her connection to the Mist? It couldn't have fallen just by her getting captured, right?" Carter asked. I knew the answer. Annabeth told me of the second prophecy and the second quest.
"She isn't the reason. Another Greek goddess has disappeared," Lou Ellen answered. "My mother, Hecate the-"
"The Greek goddess of Magic, crossroads, and the Mist," Cecil finished for her. "She disappeared a few weeks ago, right about the time that the Mist failed. Monsters are appearing to people, sacred places, magic!"
"Like what happened in Brooklyn," Will said. Or Olympus. I'm sure you've seen that."
We all have. It's impossible not to hear about the military advancement in the city that just suddenly appeared above the Empire State Building. It was also protected so that nothing could come in.
"Then we must go and hurry, for if we need to save the world by restoring the Mist, we have to do it fast," Amos said. "For now, you sleep. I will wake you up in the morning, where you will depart,"
A/N: AAAAHHHHHHHH HERE IT IS! If you don't know about it yet, we're trying to save two shows. Shadowhunters from Freeform and Scorpion from CBS. Hopefully, something like what happened to Lucifer will happen to both of them. #SaveShadowhunters #NotOurLastHunt #SaveScorpion
