And here we are with Chapter 44. Sorry for the wait. I had a job interview with a school district to be a Co-Teacher and I have good news and bad news.

Good news: I got the job.

Bad news: When the school year starts, the updates won't be frequent, but that doesn't mean that I'll give up on it. I will finish this story.

Now on to the chapter.

Chapter 44: The Soldier's Last Stand

Center Court – Moments Before Osiris Appeared

The Duel between Tatsuya and Reira was entering into its final stage as it was now Reira's turn.

"Solemn tyrant of the earth! Reside in this eye and give me your power! Xyz Summon! Appear now! The ultimate armament that repels all! Rank 6! C/C/C Embodiment of Heavy Armor – Rock Armor (ATK: 2500, RNK: 6, OVU: 1)!" Reira summoned a rock-type monster.

"I knew you'd do that, so I have a plan ready!" Tatsuya was prepared for this.

"I activate Rock Armor's effect! By using one Overlay Unit, it gains Attack Points equal to half the total Defense Points of all Earth-Attribute monsters on the field!" Rock Armor had 2000 while Tatsuya's Entermachine Gadget Giant had 2000 as well. The total was 4000 and half of that was 2000, so Rock armor gained 2000 Attack Points.

Rock Armor (ATK: 2500→4500)

"Battle! Rock Armor, attack Gadget Giant!" Rock Armor charged.

"I won't let you do that!" Tatsuya countered. "If Gadget Giant battles a Special Summoned monster, the monster's destroyed before the Damage Calculation!" Gadget Giant's shoulder created a playful beam that fired at Rock Armor.

"It's Tatsuya's ace in the hole!" Nico announced. "Reira's in a pinch!"

"Rock Armor negates the effects of Earth-Attribute monsters it battles!" Reira revealed one more surprise.

"What?" Tatsuya gasped.

Rock Armor absorbed the effect and then fired rocks at Gadget Giant destroying it and defeating Tatsuya.

Tatsuya LP: 1900→0

Winner: Reira

"A huge turnaround! After revealing Fusion and Synchro before and mastering Xyz Summon today, the amazing new face, Reira, has dominated the Junior Class!" Nico announced and the audience cheered as Reira's hologram appeared in the center of the field and his face on every screen.

"Congratulations on your victory." Tatsuya walked up to Reira. "I can't believe you mastered all three summon methods. You're like Reiji Akaba." Tatsuya extended his hand.

"Thanks..." Reira made a small smile and shook Tatsuya's hand.

But suddenly, the sky got dark and lightning started shooting out everywhere, making everyone in the stadium panic. "Wh-What is this?! Ah!" Nico squealed as he almost got zapped.

"Stay down!" Shuzo and Yoko pushed Ayu and Futoshi on the floor to protect them.

A final lightning bolt then zapped one of the broadcasting grids, cutting all feed throughout the city. "Ladies and gentlemen, for your safety please evacuate to the lobby!" Nico announced. "I repeat evacuate to the lobby!"

Leo Corporation – Control Room

Meanwhile, Reiji and Nakajima continued watching the Duels at the Volcano Area since they had their own broadcast grid. "That's..." Nakajima was in shock.
