{ Hannah }

Ashton and I decided that maybe a weekend getaway as a little family of three might be a good thing.

Ashton has a small cabin out in the woods that we are going to. While Cason slept in a little more, Ashton and I packed my Tahoe to head up to the cabin, making sure to leave room to grab groceries once we get closer.

"Alright" Ashton breathed out and shut the trunk, "Everything is in. Now, we just need to grab the kiddo"

I smiled and nodded then followed him into the house,

"You wanna grab us coffee to go and I'll go grab Cas and get him in the car?" he asked me,

"I can do that. Make sure you grab his blankie and Pluto too" I called. He gave me a thumbs up and headed toward our room.

I grabbed two travel mugs from the cabinet and put hot coffee for Ashton and iced coffee for me in the mugs. I grabbed a sippy cup for Cason next and filled it with chocolate milk for the drive.

I heard small whisperings from my boys and grabbed all the cups and met them at the garage. The sight before me was adorable. Ashton was holding a still sleepy Cason. Their heads rested against each other's and Ashton was swaying back and forth with him,

"Still sleepy Cas?" I asked, rubbing my son's back. He nodded against Ashton's shoulder and cuddled more into him.

"You can sleep in the car" Ashton told him as we walked out to the car. I opened the front door, got all the cups put in cup holders, then got in my seat while Ashton buckled Cason in and got in the driver's seat,

"What music buddy?" Ashton asked Cason, glancing at him in the rearview mirror. All Cason did was shrug and close his eyes. Ashton and I chuckled then decided to leave the radio off and got on the road.

We finally got to the cabin after stopping at a grocery store. Cason was now awake taking in everything out the window. Ashton got out of the car and went to the trunk to start getting our stuff out. I got out and opened the back door, unbuckling Cason and helping him to his feet,

"Dis it?" he asked me, pointing to the house,

"Yeah, this is it" I smiled, "Should we help Daddy with the bags?"

Cason nodded and we walked around the back of the car. Ashton helped Cason put his Toy Story backpack on and then handed him the big dump truck Cason begged to bring. Ashton handed me our shared bag then he grabbed the groceries and we headed inside.

The inside was nice and cozy and definitely felt like Ashton. The first thing he did after we put bags down and groceries away was get a fire going to warm the house. Once the fire was good, we got Cason set up on the floor in front of it and he began playing with some Lego's.

I followed Ashton to the kitchen and helped him clean the place up. He hasn't been here in a while so it needed to be dusted and cleaned,

"I love this place" I told him,

"It's my favorite place to just get away" he smiled, "There's a little lake just past the tree line too. I'm hoping to take Cas down there to fish this weekend. I don't know if he will like it or not"

"If it's with you, he will love it" I promised. Ashton smiled and hugged me into his body,

"I love you" he whispered,

"I love you too" I smiled back, hopping up on my toes to kiss his lips.

Ashton started making dinner, so I joined Cason in the living room by the fire. He was playing with some trucks now,

"You like the cabin so far?" I asked him, rolling trucks to him,

"Yeah" he nodded, "It's cozy"

"I think Dad wants to take you fishing tomorrow. Would you want to do that?" I questioned,

"Yeah" he grinned, "You too Mommy?"

"Maybe. But I think you and Daddy should go together"

Cason nodded and moved to sit on my lap, hugging me tightly. I held him back, kissing his head a few times. He's doing better. He's still a little scared at night and such, but it's not as bad. He's also started going to sleep in his own bed, but he does still end up in bed with Ashton and me.

"You okay buddy?" I asked, rubbing his back,

"Yeah. I'm okay" he nodded with a smile and kept hugging me. I kept holding him. He won't want to be like this for many more years so I'm soaking up all these cute cuddly times.

Ashton called for us a few minutes later, telling us dinner was ready. I got up and carried Cason into the kitchen area and sat him in a chair,

"After we eat we can make smores," Ashton told Cason. Cason grinned and nodded his head,

"But you got to eat most of your dinner first" I looked at Cason,

"I eat it all" Cason told us, making Ashton and I smile at each other.

{ Ashton }

I got up early and headed out on the back deck to get the fishing poles ready. I had gotten Cason a kids Lightning McQueen rod that also came with a small tackle box. Something I always imagined when I had kids was taking them fishing. My grandpa used to take me all the time. So, I'm quite excited to take Cason. I'm not sure if he will like it, but we will see.

As I got about done, Cason and Hannah walked out. Cason was dressed to go with me,

"I'll bring you guys lunch down" Hannah smiled, kissing my lips,

"Sounds good baby. I'll text you if we end up coming up early"

She nodded and Cason picked up his fishing pole,

"Careful bud. It has a sharp hook" I warned. He nodded and held it away from his body. I grabbed the tackle box, my pole, and a folding camp chair and we started heading to the water,

"Daddy, I gonna catch a big fish," Cason told me, a smile prominent on his face. We haven't seen many smiles from him in a while.

We got to the dock and I set the chair up. I baited Cason's hook and knelt down behind him, helping him cast out,

"Now we wait. When the orange bobber goes under the water, we're going to reel it in" I told him,

"You help me?" he asked,

"Of course"

He smiled and watched the bobber closely. It didn't take long for it to go under, making Cason gasp,

"Reel it in" I cheered as I helped him do so. We got it all the way in and he had caught a decent sized blue-gill,

"Good job buddy" I cheered, highfiving him,

"Take a picta for Mommy" he told me. I laughed and grabbed my phone from my pocket and took his picture with his fish,

"Let's get him back in the water" I exhaled, taking the fish off the hook and putting him back.

Next we casted my line and sat on the dock to wait, giving me time to talk to Cason,

"Hey Cas Cas?" I spoke, getting him to look at me, "I have a big question to ask you"

He nodded and stared up at me,

"I want to marry Mommy. Would that be okay with you?"

His eyes got wide and he jumped to his feet, nodding excitedly,

"Yes yes yes" he jumped, "Mommy get a pretty ring"

"Yeah. Would you want to help me pick it?" I asked with a smile and he nodded happily, "Okay. Don't tell Mommy. I want it to be a surprise"

He nodded and hugged me tightly,

"Mommy gonna love it"
