36. THE SUMMER I FELL
OUT & IN OF LOVE

"SO THEA, HOW have you been feeling these last two weeks?" The de Oro girl glanced up at the older woman in front of her— Dr. Evelyn J. Harbor, her therapist for the past couple months.

"Alright." Thea shrugged, running a hand through her hair.

"Eventful? You seem stressed." Dr. Harbor observed, leaning back into her chair. "Everything's alright? Your brothers? Your father and god-father? What about the boy—"

Then, Thea froze. The boy. A word that could be considered a loose term, but for Thea, she knew exactly what that meant. The boy was to refer to Louis, because Thea rarely mentioned Cedric.

"Ah, so something happened with the boy." Dr. Harbor assumed, nodding her head and Thea held in a sigh, running her hands over her face.

two & a half weeks ago

"Is this really it?" Thea whispered, trying not to let her tears fall. Her golden eyes stared straight at Louis, who sat across from her with sad eyes himself. The two sat outside the de Oro house, on the patio while a rare summer breeze passed by them.

The two have been together for a few months, and they both knew it was time to let go. Though she didn't feel the same way as she did before about the boy, Thea could still feel her heart breaking a bit. But they didn't belong together. When she thought of being in love with someone– She didn't see him. Still, she said as he held the boy's hand, "I love you, Lou."

"I love you too," Louis whispered back, but let go of the girl's hand gently. "Just not in the same way anymore."

Thea nodded, a tear falling down her face. Louis shook his head, wiping her tears and he gave the girl a sad smile, "No, no, Thea, don't cry, please. It's alright."

"Is it?" She mumbled.

"Yes." Louis promised, nodding his head. "I love being your friend, and I loved being your boyfriend–But eventually they just faded into the same thing. I realized I was more in love with the memories we have then I was with you."

"And then I see the way you look at Cedric," Louis whispered and Thea's eyes widened, shaking her head immediately. "Don't do that, don't try to deny it. He looks at you like— I never looked at you that way. You care for each other, deeply, I'm not going to keep standing in the way of that. A few months ago, I told you that I wanted to help you heal, and I did that. There's no reason for you to stay with me."

"I'm sorry." Thea apolofized, her eyes filled with guilt.

"Don't be, it's love. It's being in love." Louis shrugged. "And sometimes you fall out of love."

"So you broke up?" Dr. Harbor tried to confirm and Thea hesitantly shrugged. "What about Cedric? You don't mention him a lot."
