You're in the army. You're currently sat in the womens dorm in bed. You're writing a letter to your mum as part of your every 2 months deal.

The doors open and in walks the new recruit. You dont look up.

"Thirlwall. You're on the bottom bunk. With Y/l/n. Y/L/N RAISE YOUR HAND!"

You raise your hand.

"You're on that bunk."

You look up and see her walking towards you. You drop down and stand by the end of the bunk. She looks at you. Her eyes widen a little. You're built. Like really built.

"First name. Last name. Where you from."

"Oh... uhm... Jade Thirlwall. South Shields." Jade says.

"Mhm. Okay. Well you're on the bottom. Makes sense really." You say.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Jade asks.

"You're a bottom."

"I am not!"

A few months pass and you're on a mission with Jade and about 5 men and 3 other women. You and Jade are slightly friends but you dont make friends in the army because you dont want to lose people close to you.

Part of being in the army yeah but you dont wanna risk it at all. You and Jade are sat behind a rock together just talking.

"Hey when we get sent home for a bit, why dont we hang out together?" Jade suggests.

"I told you. I dont do friends." You say.

"It doesn't have to be as friends. Acquaintances." Jade says.

"No."

You grab a pair of binoculars and look out from behind the rock.

"Why?" Jade asks, ever so slightly hurt.

"Because i dont do hangouts. Friends or not." You say.

"C'mon. We've known each other for like 5 months. Surely you like... i dunno wanna be friends." Jade says.

"Nope. Dont do friends." You say.

"Why?" Jade asks.

"Because i dont. Leave it." You say.

Jade stays quiet. You sigh.

"Okay fine. We can be friends. But! And i mean this. Dont you dare die on me." you say.

"I dont plan on it." Jade says.

"Shake on it." You say.

She smiles and shakes your hand.

"We can go for drinks when we get sent home." You say.

Her smile widens a little. You turn back round and look again.

"Lieutenant." You say.

He sits next to you.

"They're on the move. It's now or never sir." You say.

"What's happening?" Jade asks.

"The French are on the move. We need to move. Now!"

Everyone gathers their things and follows the Lieutenant down the hill and to a secret spot.

"Okay. Y/l/n, Thirlwall, Davies and Anderson. Take that tree over there. Radio if we need to initiate." He says.

You nod and lead the way to the tree.

"Okay what now?" Davies asks.

"We wait." You say.

While you wait, you see Jade getting nervy.
