Yellowish light (amber perhaps) bathed the stairwell, the fluorescent lights possessing that familiar flicker. Tabitha poked her head over the metal railing, finding flights of stone stairs spiraling downwards. She tensed as a squelch sounded close behind her, her hands clenching the silver colored railing.

She abruptly broke to her right, fleeing down one flight of stairs after another. Her shoes tapped frantically as she descended, threatening squelches following behind her. The terrifying sounds died down as she made headway.

The pink haired girl stopped for a moment to catch her breath. She turned her brown eyes upwards, the higher portion of the stairwell staring back menacingly. Another squelch sounded, and she caught a glimpse of a disturbing red mass. She looked down the stairwell (the bottom far below). She resumed running, flying down the stone stairs, the squelching falling further and further behind.

Tabitha came to the bottom of the stairwell, stepping down onto the concrete floor. She dropped to her hands and knees in fatigue, panting heavily, sweat pouring from her. Her breath caught at the sound of flowing water.

Uneasily, she turned her worried brown eyes back to the stairwell, a drop of sweat dripping from her chin. In a mix of disbelief and horror, she watched as red water flowed down the stairs, closing in on her. Just before it reached her, she stumbled back and climbed to her feet. Quickly turning away, she fled down a brown brick tunnel, grayish concrete at her feet.
