"Harder," Sareth said. "Put more power into it."

"I-I'm trying." Tabitha stood firmly, her weapon locked in a mighty clash with the goblin's potted cactus, two overhead swings having met. She gritted her teeth and managed to press just a tad harder, but the creature held its own, even seeming to grin. It didn't fear her. Did it even see her as a real threat?

Her body buzzed, the air around the two combatants doing likewise. Ringing sounded in her ears. The taste of blood became apparent in her mouth. Pain began creeping through her, her heels digging into the ground. Was she being crushed from the force of her opponent's attack? Was she going to die? No. She could do this. She just needs a bit more power behind her own blow.

Slowly, the monster began sliding back, the ringing in Tabitha's ears growing. So close. Just a bit more. With the sound of a sharp crack, the contest of strength ended with the woman's weapon slicing down as if through a thick haze. Nothing of the monster or its cactus remained. In its place, a long gash had been cut into the very ground.

"Bravo," Sareth congratulated, her bat-like wings fluttering. "The giant goblin had been completely vaporized by your swing." As the blonde succubus spoke, the gash Tabitha's attack had carved into the ground began to morph, opening up into a stairway headed down. "Behold the path to the second level of The Lower Levels."
