Chapter 8 - intoxicated

(Snape POV)
I was surprised to see (y/n) spontaneously show up in the dungeons but she was crying. I wanted to know what was happening in her head, so I used legilimens to read her mind. It spoke of the truth of her eavesdropping on Minerva and I but there was something else.

What's the point (y/n)? He loves another girl whoever it is, it can't possibly be me.

I decided to speak out for her. "(Y/n) what do you mean?" She looked at me with wide eyes.

"I.... I di..... I didn't..... s.... Say anything," she stuttered. "Did you j...j....j...just r....r..read my m...m....mind?"

"Yes, now tell me what's going on? You know I'll be here for you," I was genuinely concerned, this girl who I was deeply in love with, I just wanted to hold her so closely and tell her that I love her. It's been like that for 2 years, she was child back then but now is a young woman.

"I....well..... s...so.....someone who I h....ha...have a c....c...cr...crush o.... On h....he likes s.....so....some....someone else," tears were streaming down her face at an alarming rate, so I gently pulled her into a hug which immediately calmed her down.

"(Y/n) don't worry, he's not worth your tears, I'm sure there will be someone else out there for you," with that I pulled away from the hug and she smiled gently at me. "Do you want anything to drink?" I asked. She nodded gently at me.

"Can I have a coffee please? (Milk and sugar preference),"

"Of course," I decided to pour myself some fire whiskey, since it wouldn't matter if I had a drink as the term didn't resume for another week. I gave (y/n) her coffee and sat down next to her on my sofa.

(Y/n POV)
I spent a few hours in Severus' chamber and what he said bothered me. He said my crush isn't worth my tears, does he even know it's him I'm talking about? I couldn't even get to grips with it all, his kindness was everything to me, I never knew that this man had a soft side to him. Up until my seventh year, I always saw him as a grumpy dungeon bat who never wanted anything to do with anyone, except for Maddie. But now I see him as a kind man who has seemed to always care about me, I have a feeling he's always cared about me because I was Maddie's best friend but he's never been this caring and I loved it.

He offered me something to drink to which I accepted. A good coffee always hit the spot to cheer me up. He sat next to me on his black couch drinking to what I believed was fire whiskey, I never knew he drank that much actually. There was still so much I had to learn about him.

A few hours had passed of the both of us reading and having a few conversations here and there. We spoke about our favourite books, music, turns out he's a fan of some of the bands that I listen to and a fan of jazz. It was fun conversing with him, I now know so much about him. I grew more and more comfortable around him making my stutter stop. He also had about 3 more fire whiskeys and I could tell he was a little tipsy, Maddie walked into Snape's chamber without warning, I immediately jumped and hid incase it was the headmaster or someone other teachers, but to the both of our relief it was only Maddie. "Oh thank Merlin it's only you," she looked at me with wide eyes.

"(Y/n), what are you doing here?" She asked.

"I came to visit," I said with a nervous smile. She came up to me, put her hand on my shoulder and whispered in my ear.

"Come on you can tell me, have you blossomed yet? Have you done the naughty naughty?" I looked back her with my eyes as wide as they could get, the fucking question she just asked me. There would've been a punch in her face if Severus wasn't here. I whispered back at her.

"The first question, no not yet, we've been conversing here and there and I'm not answering the second one you little shit," I looked at her to show that I meant what I said, she just giggled in response until her eyes locked on the bottle of fire whiskey. Severus glared at her.

"No you don't Maddie, you're only 17,"

"Please Sevy, pweeeaaaase pwetty pwetty pweeeaaase, with whipped cweam and marshmallows," the puppy eyes she was doing was pathetic, I couldn't help but laugh.

"No. Means. No you silly girl," she started sulking and just sat on the sofa next to Severus. It was so funny to see Maddie sulking over something she can't get but Severus does have a point even if he's tipsy.

A few minutes later, me and Maddie were laughing at some dark humour jokes that we were telling each other. One of them was about a werewolf when we noticed Severus was in fact drunk. "Werewolves.... Lupin that fucking.. cunt. He was a bully..... a stupid fucking bully.... He's decided to mess with... the wrong wizard. You know what? I'm gonna go.... And teach the twat... a fucking lesson for nearly killing me!" Me and Maddie restrained him from leaving. "Get off me girls.... He's gonna get a taste of his own fucking medicine,"

"Come on Severus, let's go for a lie down," I suggested. I gestured Maddie to set his bed up for him, I walked him to his bedroom to stop him from leaving and possibly getting himself hurt. He lay on his bed calmly and I caressed his hand to make sure he's alright. What he said next shocked both me and Maddie.

"(Y/n), I love you,"
