Zoya must be going mad. For she thought she'd just heard the assassin say her name was -
"Alasia Victoria Serpens."
"I'm sorry...what?"
She'd known it was Alasia, the assassin told her that two years ago. And she'd recognise those eyes anywhere. But Serpens, now that surely was a mistake?
Serpens was a rare surname, and one of the sacred-twenty eight. To be more narrowed down, Alasia Serpens, Nebula Serpens and Harlow Serpens' daughter who was killed the same day as the death of Potters.
The one time Zoya had found the guts to return to Malfoy Manor, they'd all been talking about the 'blasted Serpens girl who was to be killed on sight'. Lucius and even Narcissa, someone she'd truly valued. Had thought of as a daughter.
Alasia Serpens, who was a force to be reckoned with – mastered in wandless magic...Zoya gasped.
"No..."
"Finally, I thought I had to wait here all day for you to realise."
"But – "
"I died on the day Potters did?"
She nodded. "Well, I didn't die. Here's the thing, you want to know what happened? Why don't we get a wand made for me and then we'll chat over a nice cuppa."
Zoya looked at her speechlessly. "But – "
"But nothing. You said one favour, now, we'll meet tomorrow. No delays."
The scar on her brow was more pronounced in the dim lighting, the day was turning into night and Zoya had to return to her rented house soon.
"I can't tomorrow."
"Excuse me?"
"You do realise you've just murdered three people and we're talking over their corpses? I work here, Serpens." Even saying the name was shuddering. "I'll have shit to deal with for an entire week."
"So you're saying you can't meet with me for a week?"
Zoya shook her head. "I won't break my word. Malfoys might not value their tongue anymore, but I do."
"As if I know what that means." Alasia sighed.
Zoya frowned. What does that mean? Alasia had been to school with her brother.
An alarm blazed in the office.
"That's my cue." Alasia grinned. "Alex is done, the cameras are reactivating. I'd advise you to get out of the murder scene if you don't want to be framed."
Zoya widened her eyes and followed Alasia out towards the hallway, but unlike her, who'd leapt over the wall in no time, she had nowhere to go.

"You did it?"
Alasia nodded at Alex who hummed in satisfaction. "Took a great deal of time, I'm telling you. It was supposed to be done in seconds. Four gunshots."
"Well, can't miss a chance to give them a cocky grin and ask about their day before murdering them, can I?" She smirked.
He shook his head with a laugh and jogged towards his jeep. She walked towards her motorbike.
"You need to come back to the Prime tomorrow. To report everything, y'know?"
"I know. I'll be there."
That was where she left, the helmet long forgotten as her long hazel hair blew behind her head, the bike zooming past so quick, it was nearly invisible except the gust of wind it left behind.
