Same day, midnight.
When the dance ended, there was a break before the sixth one would start.
Alasia didn't waste a second before batting her lashes and asking if the man would like drinks. His answer was an instant yes.
"Your eyes, they are beautiful."
She cocked her head and smirked, noticing how his gaze travelled from her lips to her loose neckline, showing much of her cleavage. "Yours look like trouble."
He laughed – the sound crow like. "Do they now?"
"You tell me." Alasia grinned. "Are you trouble?"
"I can be." He replied, inching closer to her, lips at a proximity that she could move a little and they'd be kissing. She was revolted by the thought.
"What's your name?" She whispered softly.
He hesitated but then answered, "Gibbon"
"Gibbon" She repeated. "You alone here, Gibbon?"
He hesitated again, eyes narrowing a bit but shook his head. "I've got mates with me. Three of them. They're probably busy with ladies."
"As you are with me." She grinned. He grinned back, though his was more animal while hers was seductive.
Only then, the two were interrupted when the showstoppers were brought to the corner. And there, at the end of the hallway was The Romanian Topaz. A simple looking crystal there was such mayhem over.
"I – I need to go." Said he.
"But – "
His lips came upon hers suddenly and Alasia was disgusted by his foul breath. "Sorry, sweetheart. If there is time, I will meet you before I leave."
She truly, truly hoped there was no time.
Rhen came by her side again, and Alasia did all she could to silently vanish in the dancing crowd. But alas, he stopped her. "I found two of them."
"I found one." She replied.
"They are going to steal it with magic."
"Oh."
Rhen sighed. "Look, I'm forbidden alright? If I tell you, it could be matter of life and death for me."
Alasia frowned. Was it really that important for the Prime to keep her identity that secret? "Can't you – "
"No." He cut her off. "I cannot tell you even if you promise to never reveal it to Prime. Please, try to understand, LayLay. This isn't easy."
Alasia didn't think she'd ever seen Rhen use the word 'please' in a sentence directed at her. Albeit her surprise lasted only a short moment when there were alarms blazing in the hall.
The guards came rushing towards the owner, informing them of theft. The said owner, looked directly at them with a look that could kill and Alasia and Rhen instantly knew what to do.
"I'm going through the back. You go through the front. They're going to vanish away into thin dust if we don't get to them in seconds."
Alasia nodded, being as discreet as possible as she shredded her gown into an alcove, stuffing it into a purse, her pants already being under it as she pulled over her shirt and tucked it in along with the sharpest daggers she owned.
She threw the purse at Alex who was standing alone at guard duty. He scowled at her but tucked the purse safely at his side anyhow.
She sprinted, wasting no seconds, knowing there were cameras which were going to be controlled by the owner and would not reveal her face – even though there was a mask on it.
